Hi there,
I was looking to build myself a new server based on one of those new 8 core atom server chips. Instead I bought...keyboards. ;)

I can't really say that a new processor every few years is justified. However, a normal person wouldn't even spend more than $50 on a keyboard, so who am I to judge?
Welcome to GH. You will now want to buy keycap sets for all those keyboards.

LOL, tell me about it. I am buying an ergodox kit but can't decide on the switches or what to do about keycaps for it.
I purchased a TKL code keyboard on ebay for way too much money. I loved it so I found and bought the TK version as well. I'm too used to a TKL keyboard though, so I'm probably going to get rid of that one. I lent it to someone at work to try out for now.
I'm undecided what type of switches to put in my ergodox. I want to try ergo clears, panda clears and brown.
As I'm not thrilled with the keycaps that came with the code keyboard, I am thinking of buying a Max Keyboards Blackbird to harvest the doubleshot keycaps for my WASD and brown switches for the ergodox.
I really love the solarized keycaps group buy that is going on right now, but alas, there is no ergodox kit due to lack of interest.

server, bah.
get moar keyboards.
google has all the servers we need already, plus the NSA reads all your emails, so you know they're safe.*
*safe: not free from viruses or phishing scams, but free from anti-'Murcanism.

The SoC design of the new processors is what interests me most

Yeah, the 4 NICs is nice. I was going to virtualize a couple of servers on there. 2 NICs dedicated to an IDS device. A Kolab server. A few other things.
If I'm not careful, my server will have to be built out of unused keycaps and usb/ps2 adapters.

This one knows what is the most important thing in life :thumb: . Never stray away from this chosen path, remain true and gracious and all shall be revealed......

Not sure on the Atom stuff but the new Haswell processors are incredible. Picked up a Lenovo E440 with an i3 4000m a couple of weeks ago and I'm easily getting 8 hours out of a charge with wifi on.
