Title: G710+ Keycaps
Post by: z3n on Sat, 30 November 2013, 22:12:52
Anyone have any idea which site I should get replacements from with a G710+ keyboard? (Cherry MX Brown.)

Willing  to pay a fair amount, up to $60. I did do some research so far it looks like Max Keyboards has replacements but I'm uncertain of the quality. Hoping to find a few informed opinions.

There's a sticky in this section with links to some of the key-cap vendors that many geekhackers buy from.  I'm not entirely sure if it's over or not, but Feng was running a group buy for some of Vortex's thick PBT double shots that are quite nice and very reasonably priced, but those would unfortunately limit the back lighting capabilities of your G710+.  If you choose to not go that route, I'd highly recommend checking out Qtan's website, IMSTO's offerings, or the classified section.  Good luck with your search!

guys, be careful what you're recommending him.

remember that the g710+ does NOT have 1.25x mods all the way through like the ducky has

I think the Max sets will fit:

IMHO the Max caps are definitely of better quality than the crap the 710+ comes with.

not to sound like an idiot, but if OP is not too particular, I would recommend he stay with his current keycaps.

backlit keycaps are darn hard to come by, and they perpetually fit only the keyboard they are manufactured for. If I remember rightly (a friend has a G710), you can't use the keycaps from a Ducky, Rosewill or Deck to replace the bottom row. And not to mention, the six macro keys on the left side. No matter what he does, OP is doomed to have a keyboard where not all the backlit keycaps match.

Thank you for the replies. I don't mind if the macro keys aren't done, since I am not worried about them. (don't use many macro's)

I suppose then, I guess I will try for Max Key caps as long as nobody appears  saying they have had a bad experience w/ Max Keyboard caps. :)

Also, from what I see, backlit keyboard caps are generally bad. Ducky keyboards are generally one of the best choices it looks like, for quality. To bad I did not come across Ducky before now.
