Title: [FS] Cycaps and Derp Caps V2
Post by: nubbinator on Thu, 05 December 2013, 15:42:39: I've been experimenting with resin casting (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=41371.msg826550#msg826550) and metal casting (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=43217.0) caps for a while now and have finally come up with something I'm happy with. While still not perfect, in large part because I can't find an affordable pressure pot, they are now at a point where I'm happy with how my casts are turning out. I'm still experimenting with different materials, methods, and so on, but I decided it's time to sell some off to continue funding my experiments and, hopefully, a pressure pot at some point. In addition to the two styles here, I have another cap that is waiting to have a mold made and another that will be sold as a GH donation at the end of December.

Each color is only done once. There are different permutations that can be done, but each color will only be done once.

The top row are the available Derp Caps v2, the middle two rows the Cycaps, and the bottom row is a Cycap with a bubble under the resin that makes it usable, but a second nonetheless.

Prices:

- Derp Cap V2 - $6.50 shipped within the US. Not really trying to make any money off of this, just trying to recoup costs.

- Cycap - $15 shipped within the US.

- Cycap Second - $6.50 shipped within the US.

Comment in the thread which one(s) you want. First come, first serve.

Add $5 for international shipping if paid as gift. More if paid as goods since Paypal requires tracking for seller protection.

Additional colors can be made to order, but will cost $1-2 more due to the fact that my darker dyes are much more fickle than the alcohol inks. I'm also working on the possibility of pearlescents, but those will cost more since the supplies costs more and they monopolize the mold for a substantially longer period of time.

Yes. One's a hot pink and has been sold, the other is a lighter color pink that's a second. There's a large air pocket under the resin at the top end of the cap (not the top side). It's still usable, just not perfect, so it's being sold at a discount as a second.

I was out and about and someone on reddit hit me up for that blue one before you did and it looks like the last ready made derp cap is also going to someone on reddit. Both were people who had asked me about caps and aren't members here it looks like since I pointed them to this thread.

I'll let you know if they fall through.

I'm hoping I can find some different dyes that will do dark and are easier to work with though since my current ones are incredibly concentrated and fickle. I'm planning on picking up some more alcohol inks since they have been awesome for lighter colors and *might* be good for the clear polyester resin I'm trying out (that also takes forever to cure). It's largely just experimenting with different inks, dyes, pigments, and so on and seeing what works and what doesn't work.

It's called derp cap not because of the look on the face, but because of how "special" it is. It's less special, and, at the same time, more special than Derp Cap v1:

Sadly, I have no topre caps from which to work from, so there won't be any Topre caps. If I find some, I may make some Topre caps or Topre exclusive caps in the future.
