Title: Looking for digital item marketplaces/sales locations to liquidate my game items
Post by: Novus on Tue, 17 December 2013, 14:54:43
Hey Geeks,
Not sure if this should go in off topic or marketplace but I think this belongs in off topic.

My New Years resolution is to become a more productive member of society. To that end I would like to - :D I'm cracking up too much writing this…

I’m looking to liquidate my Dota 2 inventory into cash so I can pick up some keyboard goodies. To those you who dabble in gaming and have sold digital items (in game items) previously – I’m wondering if you could share your experiences and hopefully list some places that I can safely sell my stuff and places that I should avoid like the plague.
I've been wanting to sell my inventory for a while but I’ve been hesitant because of the difficulties of selling intangible goods (trust issues, disputes, credit card charge-backs, paypal issues and the never ending financial loopholes the buyer can use to make a deal go sour).

Even selling tangible items on Ebay is such a pain sometimes because of unscrupulous buyers. Also paypal and ebay are the worst scumbag companies. I hate using them because they do not resolve issues with common sense.

Thanks for the pointers!

Ok, so you want to liquidate what's left of your current inventory into ANOTHER useless hobby?

This is in direct conflict with you becoming a productive member of society.

Do you ever finger organism - you know what don't answer that - on your keyboard?
To be fair, I think most people here have benefited from  having a mechanical keyboard whether it's improving typing habits, speed etc.
Once you reach a certain WPM, you need better equipment so the only thing that bottlenecks your typing experience are your writing mechanics and abilities.
Anyways, don't say it's a useless hobby  :llama: ... you're like those regular dome membrane users who don't understand the joys of ... finger banging your keyboard  :p.
I mean unless you were talking about how I don't need additional mechanical keyboards in which case ... shut up I hate you don't tell me what I don't want to hear.

On a more serious note, I forgot about other things you can acquire to become a more productive member of society such as audio equipment and or other pc electronics  ;D
I'm sure I can justify purchasing those things  :p

There are so many potential gasms you can buy and appreciate with extra cash in hand (Audiogasms, overclockgasms, woodgasms and etc)

This thread just got weird.

nono..

I understand perfectly what he's trying to tell me..

the1onewolf,  you are on the CUSP of ur next life cycle..

It's quite good that you're at least entertaining the idea of becoming a productive member..

Even though you seem fearful, and are clinging to a childish decision mechanism, "be happy, f.... everything else"

It's very difficult to separate tasks of "pure waste" from "low utility"..

In general these hobbies we have are NOT pure waste, but are of VERY LOW utility.

The lessons they teach are not very applicable.. and they are time consuming..

It's up to you to find the balance...

My only point was to caution you at the fact that you're merely in a repetitious cycle to ease and distract yourself..

You recognize that there is an impending line you must cross, if not now, soon

So, I was actually channeling the odd playful, eccentric and childish manner of The Doctor. Hence the strangeness of the posts.
If you've watched the show and monologue what I wrote in the doctor's voice you'll kinda get what I was going for. Sorry I think I took that a bit far and it wouldn't be funny if you've never watched the show.

About the "productive member of society HAHA I can't keep a straight face writing this - bit" that was written in humour and jest because as TP4tissue pointed out "you're essentially trading one inapplicable hobby for another one" which was what I was originally alluding to. I was also poking a bit of fun at myself (and other geeks here who game) because of the stigma associated with wasting times on hobbies video games.

Edit: Now Silence will fall (another doctor who reference)
