Anyone ever seen this?
-
yea happens often..
UEFI usually.

Is there a fix, tp?

Is there a fix, tp?
Usually no..
Try the usb legacy settings in the bios..
but in most cases, the reason certain boards don't work is because they pull too much power, or they take too long to startup, so the bios rejects/(does not detect) it.
if it's startup, you can increase the bios startup time, that may work, but who would keep changing this setting on and off just to use their bios..
-
I tried the legacy thing to no avail.
Yeah, maybe you're right, because another usb board works :(
Damn, what a bummer.

Which keyboard doesn't work?

Hmm my HHKB works fine in GRUB
-
One question. What is GRUB?
-
GNU GRand Unified Bootloader.

Which keyboard doesn't work?
A GON. It has an Aikon controller.

GRUB is the linux bootloader. You use it to select the OS you want to boot into. There is a windows counterpart that I forgot the name.

Hmm, IIRC it presents as a standard 6KRO keyboard with no frills, so it should be pretty compatible. OTOH, I think it uses software USB... can't think why that would upset the BIOS/bootloader if it works elsewhere though.

Yes, the NKRO option is disabled as well :(

GRUB is much later than the BIOS/UEFI.
Also UEFI != BIOS
-
Aikon uses V-USB, right? I think it can not conform to the spect completely due to software and hardware limitation. V-USB is great enough in most case, though.
Aikon also supports PS/2? Aikon is not ps2avr? Korean things is confusing to me.
-
I suppose this is on a machine with no PS/2 ports as well?
Some older machines may not recognise USB keyboards on boot and if they have PS/2 ports, that is a possible avenue for one to try. However if it does not have PS/2 ports as well then I guess I am pretty stumped.

It does have a PS2 port, but a ****ty USB board works just fine :(

Is it UEFI or BIOS? How old is it? Is the USB in the main board or an add in card? Have you tried all USB ports? USB 3.0?
-
Can you access BIOS on other machines with the GON?
-
My HHKB (and my Poker as well iirc) doesn't work in BIOS, but my Filco does...

What does it stand for? What doesn't it stand for?
It stands for ... it stands for commitment. It stands for audacity. It stands for courage in the face of ...
What do you think it stands for?
Oh, sorry, that was IT.

maybe try to delay the post screen in bios? mostly once the post screen ended then only the keyboard start to functioning. this happen to me with my quickfire tk. 1 delay the post screen to 10sec so that my keyboard can bootup before the post screen dissappear and press DEL to enter the bios...

I don't think that is actually doable. Most bootup processes are usually fairly quick and even if one tries to slow down the bootup sequence it is not likely that it will enable USB keyboard in the time in between. Think of it as following a receipe book for making things, you can't have other things happening that easily when you don't have the base done.

GON said to me that the Aikon controller does not work on the BIOS indeed.
Thank you guys for the help.
