Title: So I just lost all my lottery money playing casino roulette, what can I afford?

Easy come easy go (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=52473.0)

I listened to Demik who instructed that I try to double my lottery winnings in a friendly game of casino roulette. And well, long story short, black is not always the best bet.

That's what happens when you listen to Demik I guess. On the positive side, the people at the casino seemed very happy. I also got a free lunch out of it.

So now the exact opposite question, if you're low on funds, what would be the best mechanical keyboard?

QFR

Focus 2001

So a Model M could be had in the $15-40 range if you get a good find. I've yet to come across a Focus 2001 in the wild.

Rosewill mechanical anyone? I'm talking dirt cheap, I could barely tip the casino hostess.

Thank goodness I didn't receive it yet :)

I'm sure the big chief would like typing on my mechanical keyboard.

I count 4 on eBay at the moment.

The Rosewill is a good choice, if you don't mind the possibility of having to repair it yourself later.

Do the Focus boards come with vintage blacks?

Rosewill does tend to have issues with the rear USB connector. A little soldering on the joint usually fixes that nicely.

And they use 2001 in their naming convention. How misleading.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, I thought it would be fun :)

Another good cheap mechanical, while not in the same boat as the others would be a G84. It's a very small profile, but some people like it that way. Also can be found for under $20

Best advice if you have to have it right away.

Otherwise, stop in at your local thrift stores regularly, and within a few days/weeks/months something interesting will surely turn up.

Thrift stores and yard sales. You can get one for less than $5 if they don't hike up the price because it clicks.

Alternatively: get a credit card with the credit you got during the short time with your money. Buy everything you can think of and don't worry about paying it off. ever. I mean, you probably don't have enough money to pay taxes anyway anymore, right? Might as well go all out and enjoy yourself before your stuff gets repossessed. (If you're lucky, they won't realize your keyboards are worth money and they'll leave those in the cardboard box outside your house so you can press buttons while you look at the life you used to have)

I think you should not do things the cheap way.

Let's put the rest of your money to Keno or another roulette session. You certainly deserve better than a used Model M as others said.

this doesn't work.. he'll hit the limit, or they'll block the charges if he suddenly randomly buys things @ a casino/ massage parlor.

And all this could have been avoided if I hadn't listened to Demik

Well that's only part of the story. Fortunately, I hadn't gambled away that money. It will go to the "Human Fund Trust" and will be appropriated fairly. But again, are there any other cheap mechanical keyboards out there that a poor person like me could take advantage of?

We would have also accepted QFR, as that seems to be the winner here lately for least expensive mechanical keyboard.
