Title: Greetings From North Carolina!
Post by: billnye on Mon, 23 December 2013, 16:55:24
Hello! I've been interested in mechanical keyboards since early this year and have mostly been active on the mechanical keyboards subreddit. I'm really passionate about keyboards and in fact spoke to 2 groups of about 50 people each about them recently! I'm excited to join this very knowledgeable community and hopefully I can contribute something useful.  :thumb:

Welcome - I am curious about your 50 audience. They are keyboard enthusiast too or are they falling asleep? Ha ha, joking - hope you have a good time in GH!

Ha! Actually, my father teaches a technology update twice a year; once in November and in December. The audience is middle aged accountants. Last year I talked about building a PC and this year I decided I would talk about my newest hobby! I actually made a post on Reddit and Elitekeyboards contacted me about sending me a demo board. I spoke with Brian there and they sent me a Realforce 104UW to show the class! I was super excited. Most of the people told me they had never heard of mechanical keyboards and they were glad I told them. Multiple people said they are going to buy a Topre because they liked the feel! It was a lot of fun and it was cool to talk about something I really care about.

Thanks for the welcome!

Elitekeyboards is really smart! Good business sense there.
Did they flip when your audience heard about the price? :D

Haha some were. Most of them are very wealthy people so money really isn't an obstacle for them. Most of them said they never really thought about their keyboard.. it was just a object on their desk!

Yea it was awesome! I wrote up a few paragraphs and posted it on the mechanical keyboards subreddit. Not sure where I would post that here.....
