Title: Desk Mats
Post by: fourzeropooh on Tue, 24 December 2013, 01:13:48
I am looking for a desk sized mouse pad. I was looking at the XTRAC XXL Ripper but it is sold out everywhere I look.

Apart from the Xtrac, what other mousepads are good for what I am looking for?

I am looking for that as well, now I am just using a cheap china one. It's hard to find one that's wide enough to put monitor on it.

I think they may be discontinued because everywhere I go I can't find it, the only place I found one was ebay for $40.  :'(

Staples has Artistic Krystal View mats.  Just don't put anything warm/hot on them or they'll warp.

Not exactly sure if this will be big enough for you , but this is what Iam going to be ordering in the next few days.
It's huge to me.

Awwww. I like putting hot tea on my mat...

What if I have a mousepad on top of the staple mat? Will it still warp?

This is big enough, pretty much the same size as the xxl ripper

But its more expensive than the xxl ripper($17 newegg before sold out)
how's the quality?

I do not own it yet, but I will be getting one soon. I searched everywhere for a XXL mouse pad and that is the only one that I found so far that doesn't have logos plastered all over it.

Cloth ones get dirty and wear out.  I'd recommend a plastic one.  Much easier to clean and don't wear out.

That's why I bought 3 of them, so I can change it when it gets dirty  ;D

Yeah it is one of the better looking ones that I have seen so far (no huge logos). And the price isn't too bad considering how much some of the other XXL mouse pads cost.

I have the ripper.

It is huge. Takes up the whole desk. It looks bad if you get a stain on it. I end up having to deep clean the spot. Then it becomes a pain to do that because the mat is so big. So don't eat on the pad.

I use this one and like it a lot:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005G2HX3E/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It comes in a larger size too.

So far, putting cups of hot tea on it has been fine.

Just ordered an XTrac Ripper XXL from GigaParts (http://www.gigaparts.com/Product-Lines/Mice-Pads-Surfaces/XTrac-Ripper-XXL-Optical-Mouse-Pad.html) where it looks to still be in stock.

If you can find one online for cheap (retail is expensive af for some reason), try a Speed Stacks StackMat.  Some of the newer ones are all curvy, so watch out.  Anyway, they come in a bunch of pretty neat designs, and are decent soft mousepad material.
