Title: Merry Christmas from New Zealand!
Post by: kargool on Wed, 25 December 2013, 18:45:02
I guess it's a day old for anyone on this side of GMT, but Merry Christmas!

One christmas gift of mine was a mechanical keyboard of my choosing, which explains why I'm here.

Looking at DasKeyboard at the moment, but doing some research

Welcome :)

I heard something about DasKeyboard switching manufacturing to China; so you may want to look into that to see how the quality is or will be.

Welcome to GH!
Das keyboard's are ok, although I think you'd prefer a Cooler Master Quickfire Pro (full size) or Quickfire Rapid (no number pad). Or, if you have the money, you could go for a filco. Both of those are similar to the Das, and the QFR is very inexpensive.
Most people start out with MX Blues (clicky) or MX Browns (non-clicky but still tactile). People like them both for different reasons, although there are also many other switches out there that others prefer.
Good luck! Your journey starts here :P

It's not my money  ;) , so I'm going for a Majestouch-2 TK with browns.
Ordering 4 red switches for holiday directional keys. (total £119 || 196USD || 235NZD)

Shipping to NZ is actually reasonable, £15 and no GST!

Apparently, now comes the part where I spend my entire bank balance on custom key caps , faceplates, and wrist rests...
