Title: Ducky Shine 3 DIP Switch problems?
Post by: vElectrixx on Sun, 29 December 2013, 18:33:04
I decided to mess with the keyboard and find all of the features. While trying to find out what the DIP switches were, I went through all of them. After realizing the first one was disable the windows key, I noticed that Caps lock is still ctrl, and vice versa. How do I put them back to their original settings? I put all of the switches back down and reset the keyboard back to factory settings, but it does not change.

you tried unplugging and then flip everything on and off?

1st switch: capslock/ctrl swap
2nd switch: alt/widows key swap
3rd switch: windows lock
4th switch: Demo mode

Hmm not sure with Ducky Shine keyboards to be frank, did you play with the DIP switches whilst the keyboard was plugged in and/or turned on? Also were the factory settings for DIP switch setup all down?

I am not sure which OS are you running but I guess there are tools which you can try and verify the key codes sent out by the controller (onboard the keyboard that is). Also check to see if you have any other software level based key remapping. On windows for instance there is autohotkey, and on macintosh there is keyremap4mac.

In the worst case scenario you can resort to using software based key remapping to temporarily solve the problem. There has to be a description somewhere to tell one what the individual DIP switch settings are. On my HHKB for instance, there is a sticker on the underside of the keyboard as well as on the manufacturer website (albeit the manufacturer website's variant is all in Japanese). Maybe if the DIP switch settings are not explained briefly on the underside of your keyboard could it be by any chance that it would be in the printed manual for instance?

you have to be sure your computer is powered off to MAKE SURE that it's working correctly.

You're supposed to change it while the boards unplugged. Try and unplug the board and plug back in. You may also want to hold the windows buttons for a few seconds and the board will flash: That is a reset.

I unplugged, flipped everything off, plugged back in. Luckily, it worked! Thanks!

I said in my original post that I reset the board, and thanks for the tip! I didn't know the keyboard had to be unplugged, then activating the switches.
