For my current project, I'm looking for 17mm or 17.5mm Cherry MX mount keycaps. Roughly 60 of em per board. Probably starting off by buying enough for 10 boards.
I'm...somewhat flexible on everything else.
What options do I have?

The closest I know of are older flat Tipro keycaps at 17.8 mm wide, but you would need some clearance between caps.

Yeah, that's just too big. :/

I noticed awhile ago the Cherry dyesubs from the old TA/Royal typewriters are a little smaller than usual. I just measured and they are exactly 17x17mm. Might be hard to get them in such quantity, but if you don't mind printed set for one board if that is even suitable it would be a way to go.

Mind sharing your project details?

Did you see that Matias’s upcoming ergonomic keyboard project includes some rectangular (as wide as usual but not as deep) keycaps used for the arrow keys and assorted others? http://matias.ca/ergopro/pc/ Supposedly they’ll also offer such keycaps for sale, separately.
It’s not Cherry MX, but then Matias switches (not to mention old Alps switches) are nicer than MX switches anyway. ;)
