I just got a HHKB off ebay for a really good price. This seem way too good to be true...
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251414276489?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
-
Hmm dunno seems really odd.....that low of a price....and the seller from China with no previous sales record.
-
0 feedback + ridiculously low price + from China = :(
-
If it's too good to be true, then it usually is.
-
seller..............."0" ebay feedback
good luck
-
Good luck, hopefully it goes smoothly. I'm not sure how eBay works but will you be protected in case it is too good to be true?
-
Was expecting a link to a Lite model but good luck OP
hell of a deal...
-
The 0 feedback is definitely questionable...and China to boot. GL
-
It will be interesting to see if it is some sort of cheap knockoff.
-
If he even gets it at all...
-
And here's another: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Happy-Hacking-Keyboard-Professional-2-PD-KB400WN-White-with-BLANK-Keycaps-PFU/121245698750?_trksid=p2047675.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D11%26meid%3D3839904310689257667%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D1005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D5%26sd%3D251414276489%26
At least ebay now has that money back guarantee, so there's not so much risk for the buyer.
-
0 feedback but paypal covers you. Make sure to use paypal
Whoa another! So cheap .. Want to bid..
-
You already have a HHKB dustin! This one is mine! ;D
-
You already have a HHKB dustin! This one is mine! ;D
Ok you win it :)
-
0 feedback and to good to be true = no thanks
-
As far as the feedback goes, everyone has to start somewhere I suppose.
You're usually well protected on Ebay now. I think it'd be worth a shot to be honest.
-
Looks pretty fishy, if you think it is too good to be true it probably is then. Good luck
-
Worse case, you wait for PayPal to pay you back. Best case, you get the HHKB.
-
There seems to be another one here. (http://ebay.eu/1lDitdI) Intresting because it is same picture and description, but different username. This one has 0 feedback too.
-
totally a scam. I saw 4 listings on eBay the other day, all with the exact same item description and picture, and from different usernames based in China with 0 feedback on all four usernames.
-
There are a few all with 0 feedback selling similar items. Very fishy!

I'm going to give it a try. It's not like ebay or paypal will leave me stranded.

If you received a knockoff, how would you prove to Paypal/ebay that it wasn't the real deal?
-

unless it was a really good knockoff, i don't think i would have much trouble proving it's not the real deal.
-
I'm not sure why you guys even bother - the guaranteed hassle (as minimal as it might be) of dealing with paypal/ebay on a dispute down the line is never worth it.
The description is copy pasted from http://www.ebay.com/itm/281161992000

Pretty sure there are a few Chinese owners (in China of course) with real HHKB. That said, the price is evidently too low, not even sure if those sellers have some sort of reserve price for the said keyboard but set at same price as for a proper HHKB.
On the other hand I would agree with what Parak said, if the deal falls through (for getting one) going through dispute may not going to be fun. A modern car for instance has ABS (to prevent brake locks) but that does not mean one should go out there and test it just to see if ABS can guarantee one against locking up (of the brakes) and get involved in an accident. The same logic applies here, just because ebay/paypal offers buyer protection, is it wise all the time for one to constantly test the buyer protection?
As tempting as the price might be, to me it is not worth the risk of buying one and to deal with any issues that may arise down the line (regardless if one had to go through dispute process or not). The wise old saying on caveat emptor is as always,"if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is" seems it needs to be implied more.
-
It surely is a scam. Greediness must be blind.

Lol some people are eager to lend their money to Paypal for a few weeks. I will eat my shoe if these are real.

I want these to be real, I want to see you eat a shoe.

They are all sellers with Chinese names followed by 4 numbers.

I was threatening shoe eating before it was cool.

Seems like there are some potential candidates here who probably have wads of spare cash to throw at on some cheap HHKB and defending these "reviewer-less" sellers instead of wanting to save money up for a real one instead.
In either case, regardless if the deal is real or not. I like to see how long does those keyboards actually last. Cheap prices may also mean sweatshop like conditions with either poor or no quality control on the said product. It wouldn't surprise me to see fake but cheap HHKB gets thrown out because they either don't work well or the legends/key cap colouring wears off like as if the key caps were dipped in some tub of liquid paper and the legends are all bits of sticky paper.
What is certain here is that it only cheapens the brand of HHKB and it is up to the company (PFU) to decide on what to do with these fake but cheap HHKB should they ever exist in a more material form. I have seen tons of cloned products over time, but it never ceases to amaze me the amount of people willing to pour money into these uncertain areas - most of them only to realise if they weren't scammed but found the quality was poor. Regardless, it will be a learning curve for people anyway.
Good luck with bidding, good luck with not being scammed and good luck on seeing how long will that product last for only to realise that you could have saved money for the real deal. This goes with virtually any products, it doesn't have to be HHKB or any particular keyboard/electronic/item in question. I am just some old fashioned buyer whom would actually either see the product being materialised and/or the product is coming from a more reputable place. Internet-orders are full of blackholes and unknown when you don't and can't see what is actually going on.

Edit: Next thing you'll know is that the seller realises the prices were too low, raises it up to almost the same price for the real HHKB making it harder for one to ascertain if they are going to get the real HHKB or a fake one, worse yet get scammed. Meanwhile the seller dashes off madly with the profits made from their little demeanor purposes whilst paypal desperately tries to tighten up laws to make other sellers harder to run away with the said funds and give these "unfortunate" buyers a scrowl looking face for constantly falling on cheap but fake goods (behind closed doors).
-
It seems more like a scam than knockoffs imo. Why make a bunch of accounts just to sell a knockoff?
-
Seems like they only ship to UK :'(
wanted to see if I could even get a knockoff
-
0 Feedback score.
I would like to see what they would send to you
-
Dodgy. But hopefully it works out - deal of the year if it does!
Please keep us posted on what happens.

Right then, I just won the black printed one for 35BGP inc shipping. Time to push my luck and see- if anything- what arrives. The payment didn't complete instantly as it normally does for me, so I'll be interested to see what happens and I'll keep you all posted. There's still a couple more up for grabs. :p

Paypal have probably flagged the account if it didn't go through straight away.

Just what I was thinking, or if the account wasn't yet fully verified. I'll see if they respond with anything.

Worth it is subjective. I'm old and make obscene money per hour. It wouldn't be worth it for me. But if you're a struggling college student, why not! And if you can get your money back from eBay, why not for a young buck?

If they shipped to my country, I'd be very tempted to bid on the one with white blanks. If it goes south, you're only risking a small amount of cash and a little time to deal with Paypal return request.
Even if the keyboard turns out to be a bad copy / fake, the caps would be worth the cost.

Worth the cost? The caps would probably be very bad quality and would probably not fit Topre or Cherry.

Hmm.. yeah, I was assuming they'd fit Topres, but I guess if the switches aren't Topres, they probably won't have compatible stems.
Let's see what happens with Alessandro's order. Hoping for the best, would be an all-time great deal!

I'm talking to ebay about cancelling my order and getting refunded, This is way too good to be true and not worth the hassle. I don't suggest anyone bids on one unless you're interested in what they send you, or if they send you anything at all. Now i'll have to go spend a bad amount of money on a legit one :(

I wouldn't touch this at all. It just seems way too good to be true. They're most likely fakes. It doesn't help that the seller has like no previous records.

So what is a "fake" HHKB? A plastic model? Or a HHKB box with a book in it instead of a keyboard?

they probably found out that they weren't going to get the keyboard. its an obvious scam there's no way someone would sell these keyboards that cheap.

Really it should be fairly obvious that this is suspicious from the fact that hardly anyone else is bidding. If these were legit, the price would escalate fairly quickly.
