Title: Need mechanical keyboard help

I've been looking at some mechanical keyboards for awhile now and I am a very picky individual, I've come across the CM Quickfire Rapid and I'm interested in purchasing it in the UK layout(must be UK layout) but all I can find is one with black key switches.

I looked at the ducky keyboards and the flashy lights do not peak my interest at all, but the layout and style do look nice.

Is there a big diffrance between the black and red switches?, should I just go for the black switches? I would like the keys to be very light.

I do like the 10 keyless with red switches, I am wondering if you guys know some alternative keyboards like the CM Quickfire Rapid, or just some good suggestions :))?

I'm pretty sure you can turn the lights off on the ducky, correct me if i'm wrong. There is more of a middle difference between the black and the reds. The reds are quite a bit lighter then the blacks and you can feel it for sure. I recommend picking up a switch tester if you can but it seems like you should go for reds. :cool: hope this helped

for some odd reason I can't figure out, backlight-haters always deny that.

Black is quite heavy - too heavy for some.  Red is very light.  If light you want, red it is.

For the moment I can't find any UK layout QFR :(

Not sure on this but I thought some of the Ducky ranges does not have all that excessive backlighting. If one was looking at Ducky Shine series, they would be fairly well backlit on virtually all the keys. I read somewhere Ducky Zero has minimal backlighting, then there was that one (or some) from the Pro series, one of which has Dye-sub and may not have backlighting for it.

I guess one can have no backlighting (or very minimal, only LED window) or full backlight when it comes to Ducky range.

I've only been able to find CM QFR UK with black too.

In the end I went for a filco through the keyboard co.  Expecting it today.  Unreasonably excited.

You can turn off the LEDs on all the Ducky boards, so that shouldn't be a factor. Some of them come with nice dyesub PBT caps and they should be available with any of the more common Cherry MX switches. Have you considered MX Browns, or do you only want linear switches?

Filco also have a great range of boards.

The QFR is the best value for money, though.

Filco and Ducky are a little higher quality in general.

I keep forgetting - there is Ducky Zero, which is a Ducky without backlighting.
