Title: CES 2014
Post by: WhiteFireDragon on Wed, 08 January 2014, 20:29:09
I'm currently in Vegas for a few days for vacation, mainly for CES 2014. I brought a camera and camcorder and will be taking a few pics. Anything in particular you wanted to see? It can be keyboard or non-keyboard related.

Wrong, well partly... Last CES had very few but I hear that they were back this year, which is very sad and depressing. I'd hoped the world had moved on from the misogynistic bull**** that was 'booth babes'... I guess that's what I get for hoping for 'progress'...

Let's hope e3 can... Wait who the **** am I kidding.. Video game publishers are incapable of being human beings

it's not misogynistic... It's market specialization, and psychological warfare..

The vendors couldn't care less about the female-agenda....   They're out to sell product.. by any means necessary..

Female Agenda....

---the over-sexualized female image sets a bad example for young women...

Well, in a society of bare apes that generally wear clothes.. Nakedness---gets you attention..

The feminist's real enemy is clothing that comes off.....

Sex sells. Always will.

_________

I didn't see anything really awe inspiring from CES this year. My big takeaways were : wearables, affordable* 3D printing, and 4K TVs. While I don't believe 4K is ready for the consumer, there could be some commercial applications that could utilize the technology now. Especially if these displays are serving static content or something that doesn't require fast refresh. Theme parks, restaurants, airports, etc..

Exepct the concept of 'sex sells' is total bull****, especially in this day and age. All your actually doing is giving people a reason to not view your products and be put off. The 'men' who swoon over models paid to wear little are not the 'men' placing orders or taking videos/photos/interest in your products they are simply there to take pictures/videos of these women as it's there only chance to see women dressed like that were they can publicaly demand pictures of them posing.

Luckily (via a post on The Verge) it seems like robots are actually doing a better job (shock) than 'booth babes' at attracting attention and customers... So let's hope this time next year they are well a truly a thing of the past and this nonsensical concept of 'sex sells' is put to rest.

Free beer also brings lots of foot traffic to your booth. Booth girls are here to stay. Sure it could wain over the next few years at this conference but other venues will still continue to utilize them.

I suppose it all depends on the show, the location and the crowd you are appealing to. This in Vegas for what it's worth.

On a side note, the unavision girls at some conference are incredible. Like the reef girls of TV :D

preach.

the whole "lets have a half naked woman here to attract foot traffic because our product is actually ****" mentally is getting old. yeah, they're nice to look at.. but if that's the only thing you can offer.. just quit already.

I agree there is a trend towards over-sex-aversion... however...  the base "sex sells" campaign is INFALLIBLE..

Why do you need a nice car,  to sex chix

Why do you need a nice house, to sex chix

Why do you need to shower,  to sex chix

Why do you need to shave, to brush ur teeth, to get a hair cut...

ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING a person can do, some how MUST contributes to the continuation of our species..

Facebook for example..on the surface it's not apparently selling sex.. BUT IT IS SELLING SEX.. It's the most advanced sexual market to date.. it reduces the social cost of engaging with others.. it also allows for the shotgun approach to sexing women.. thereby reducing Cost PER session of sex..

Sex sells is the same as saying.. food sells..

Plus none of the CES nerds would be able to talk to the booth babes and they'd all run off awkwardly.

You mean FT-86?  And yeah most likely since they both share the FA based engine.

Though I find I wasn't too impressed with the new STi design, but then again I guess Subaru never impressed me at launch but then it just grows on me slowly.

Now back to topic, where are the CES pictures?  :P
