Title: Hebrew keycaps?
Post by: 00zeRO on Wed, 15 January 2014, 14:29:03
Has anyone heard of them? Know anyone who commonly produces or distributes them? Is there such a thing as a Hebrew layout keyboard?

If that's not to your fancy, IMSTO could make you a set.

IMSTO will do one-offs?

Pardon my noobness, but what is a 'one-off'?

1 of 1 set

You tell him "I need a hebrew keyset" and he makes only 1.

Also, I never said it was cheap, so be warned.

If you are not in any hurry I will offer Hebrew as option on next dyesubs groupbuy I run along with some others I have not done yet like Arabic, APL... this probably won't happen until April or something though.

Hmmm...I wonder what the cost would be...

Link to the last groupbuy can be found here (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=43328.0). I assume the price will be comparable but Ivan will know better than I do.

Cost depend on where they are sourced. I was considering trying BSP next time.

Ivan you're on FIRE today. 250 MOQ at GMK and then BSP??  :-*

I would like to try BSP... but it all depends on how is the MOQ and if they will allow the total MOQ to be split between different printing and in what ratios... obviously it's not going to be too feasible if they want a high MOQ for each 'obscure' legends. To be totally honest I mostly want to use BSP since they already have the proper Cherry legends for Arabic, Hebrew, APL, EU multi... doing vector tracing of those from so so pictures of old Cherry dyesubs is not something I really wanted to go though :))

BSP has already done APL? PICS PLS! I thought GMK did pad printed APL too..

I just wonder what happened to BSPs moulds. Really quite annoying..

I guess I had that mixed up. It had been a long time since I looked at it and for some reason I remembered the APL set as dyesub... but it's pad print on doubleshots.

MOQ == minimum order quantity

GMK is the company that bought the original Cherry tooling for making key caps. They had a really high MOQ for doubleshots (400), but now it is 250 :)

It's a programming language, literally "A Programming Language".  One that happens to use special characters for which they made keycaps.

Cherry Corp. has made keyboards in Hebrew layout. The last letters in the article number should be IL.

Just for my own curiousity's sake, I did a search and verified the info from the DT wiki (http://deskthority.net/wiki/Cherry_article_numbers#Layout). Trying to find some pictures though...

Not overly concerned about layout, I just want keycaps with hebrew characters...having ' יהוה ' on an escape key would be cool enough, I suppose. Or maybe the paleo hebrew equivalent as such:(http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/6f/Tetragrammaton_scripts.svg/119px-Tetragrammaton_scripts.svg.png)

Of course, the coolest would be to find out who makes Ducky's backlit keycaps and have them make it for me, since it would be accenting my super-cool Shine II featured in my pixel 'board.

אתה יודה עברית? אבל אני ר וצה מחנסים.

If you speak hebrew, I hope you're amused. Otherwise, I'll go into my corner. My hebrew skills are rusty.

I am still in the appreciative stage of the language and culture of Hebrewness. My Hebrew skills are almost non-existent, but I will certainly have fun trying to decode what you said...

I love the Hebraic perspective of the world...function is always better than form.
