Post by: libz94 on Thu, 16 January 2014, 03:50:54
Hello everbody ^_^

Is it worth to get the Ducky G2Pro with PBT keycaps and pass on the nice leds and features of the Ducky Shine 3? It is a really hard desicion for me.

Thanks

Welcome to Geekhack!

Really this is a matter of opinion.

What is more important to you - PBT keycaps or backlighting?

OTOH I have both on one keyboard with the Ducky Shine Yellow Edition :)  Engraved keycaps, but.

I read some threads about PBT vs ABS but  I am still not sure.

At the moment I own a Cooler Master Quckfire TK with MX browns. It is my first mechanical keyboard so I am inexperienced with the differences.

I like the LEDīs of the Shine 3 but if I get a better feeling with PBT I would not mind to do without it.  :)

PBT keycaps are usually slightly rougher than ABS, however they do not shine over time, whereas ABS could start going shiny in a couple of months, depending on usage.

There are a few PBT doubleshot sets appearing now, mostly by Vortex, but the majority of PBT are dyesub.  Most ABS are doubleshot.

Like most keyboard-related things, this comes down to personal preference.

Some people swear by ABS, some by PBT, and some even by POM.
