What's the easiest way to remap an ISO layout board so the keys are in similar locations to ANSI (in this case remapping with Soarers)?
Change ! c key to {[ , \| to ]} , maybe {} to \|, .. to >., ,, to <,? Is there anything else to change or make the layout better?

You shouldn't have to do a thing besides set keymap in operating system. Keyboards send scancodes, and the OS decide what that scancode generates based on the keymap. The only time I could see doing it in firmware is if you wanted to do something like plug in an ANSI keyboard from home if you worked in a German office that you have no ability to change keymap from DE to US.
