I'm not sure which monitor it was but one of the newer high hz benqs was reported to have MUCH better color than their asus equivalents and honestly, I'd say that's worth the extra money you'll spend. If you really don't care, get the asus. I got one for 200 something and it's well worth it, especially if you're just after the refresh rate.
Edit: Just double checked, I have the the VG248QE and, like I said, have fount the color pretty disappointing. Need to tweak a bit more to see if I can get it a little more accurate.
I don't game, so for me, 2 nice-sized, mediocre monitors are better than 1 great monitor.
1 for the internet, 1 for actual computer-ing
Plus, I actually see my "desktop" from time to time!

I appreciate all the helpful responses. I think I'm gonna go for the more expensive monitor (BenQ). I might as well spend a lot to get the best and never look back. I heard the Asus has a lot of tweaking back and forth for when you game and when you just wanna surf. I already do a lot of that and would like to save my time. I'll post a follow up when I get it. Also gonna try out the lightboost hack. And I already have a two monitor setup, but I barely use the 2nd one. Thanks again guys. :thumb:

With lightboost, it pretty much cuts brightness levels in HALF, at the 10% maximum boost setting..
but it's WORTH IT.. just darken you room a bit.
Judging from his age, I'd say fohat has a dark wooden desk with a glass top and he didn't get it from crate and barrel.

I have dark wooden desk (solid wood all the way through) that my father bought for his office in the mid-1960s. No glass top, just wood.
