I haven't found a way to ship to canada cheaply, it's always ridiculous.. like $20-30
-
Yeah, it would be 20-30 shipping if it's over 5 LB. Still only $15/LB after shipping.

American beef jerky is totally crap. Don't they sell better barbequed meats in Chinatowns? It isn't a Chinatown if it doesn't offer barbequed pork freshly made.

It'll cost me more in fuel to drive to the nearest city large enough to have a chinatown (likely Washington DC, 300 miles away, possibly Cincinnati, same distance) than buy a years' worth of this stuff which is "decent" for snack food. Plus beef jerky will last longer on the shelf.
I'm a big fan of barbequed meats, but this is much more feasible.

I know; beef jerky is a kind of organic rock. :p

This stuff is so horrible compared to a quality jerky. I wouldn't pay more than about $5 a pound for this.. really.
My current supplier is expanding their store so they're closed, but when they're open again I'll make a post about it. They also charge about $10 a pound and I guarantee it tastes 100 times better. It's also all 'organic' grain grass fed beef and the meat is from quality cuts.

What a rip off, now Amazon is conveniently showing out of stock for this. Typical Amazon.

You guys should really try making your own, it isn't hard, it's cheaper, and it comes out much tastier. You don't even need a dehydrator.

Remember this video was made about ten years ago. I would use it only once, but you can make a TON of jerky using just a few. However, you just need something to hold the meat in place, it doesn't need to be an air filter. The air filters just allow for super easy cleanup. Get creative if you don't want to use them. You can use metal cooking racks, skewers, etc., pretty much anything that will keep the meat in place while it is being dried. If you use metal racks then you will want to sandwich the meat between two racks, or use toothpicks to keep the meat in place. Skewers work well but you need to use multiple, basically forming a meat raft, then rig something to hold it in place. I've done some pretty random setups when I'm too lazy to make it to Home Depot, but not too lazy to go across the street and buy meat.
