i have cherry mx board 3.0 with the low profile keycaps...im trying to order a similiar set of dyesubs and am trying to figure out what kind of keycap this is this http://www.keycapsdirect.com/key-caps.php link provides a description of the different cap types i was wondering if it would be a dsa or lp.. i know lp is mainly for cherry ml boards but this cap is small..thanks
-
It's definitely not DSA. I'm not sure of Cherry's source for that set, so couldn't say the exact profile. Is there a reason you want more of the same profile?
-
i really like low profile keycaps but also really like mechanical keyboards... so trying find some more caps like these to put on a poker 2..if not ill just use these. i tried them on a corsair i had at the house they fit just fine but was looking for a dyesub alternative. thanks!

It's something else. They're Cherry's own flat caps which don't seem to have an equivalent "standard" cap shape.
As far as I know, noone else makes sets like that, they only come on the G80-3800 series boards. The caps lock stem is in a weird place, so you may not get it to fit nicely on a Poker. The 0/Insert key from the numpad may fit on the Poker Caps Lock, but it would look a bit odd.
The closest that I know of are DSA profile, but those have spherical indentations and are a little higher. They have a nice "vintage" look, IMHO.

Someone mentioned that GMK might be making them and that they might be a variant of the cherry M8 keys, but you know how hearsay is.
-
I don't think GMK make those... Devlin has some that look very similar though, same shape/profile.
-
I'm actually interested in trying those too. Has anyone got a Cherry MX Board 3.0 and want to give us some input on this?
-
Is that the same profile as the 586 dolch pac? http://www.ebay.com/itm/EX-NASA-DOLCH-PAC-586-COMPUTER-MILLENNIUM-/290984927075?pt=Laptops_Nov05&hash=item43c00d9f63

someone should let the proper folks know there is demand for them in thick[-as-possible] black blank pbt ;D
-
That keycap is Cherry's own shape. It is a low "staircase" profile with cylindrical surface.
It is lower than DSA which is a symmetric flat with spherical surface.
-
They actually have it in stock at mechanicalkeyboards.com
http://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=655
Although it's $100... I'm not sure if I want to spend that much to test something out.... hmmmm........

I bought a Cherry Board 2.0 to use to harvest the switches and keep the caps from, and it looks to have identical caps. You can get them for AU$75 plus postage around here. About US$65.
I think the only difference between the Cherry Board 2.0 and 3.0 is the media keys.
-
I don't think LP LP for ML :)

I just went looking again. They are Devlin L series caps (http://www.devlin.co.uk/products/components/keycaps.html). They even say explicitly on the page that they're made for the Cherry MX 3.0 boards.

Good searching!

anyone talked to them about a groupbuy? :)

That's a great idea, I'd love an ergodox set of these.
-
Devlin was also confirmed to do thick 1x doubleshots I believe. Might be interesting if people wanted to do wasd clusters or function packs and the like.

ergo-mechbook pro keyboard incoming !!!

I'm considering them for the typewriter inspired colorways GBs I'm looking at doing. I do like their caps better than SP.

Is Devlin expensive/cheaper than SP?
-
Haven't gotten anything back from them yet. They're likely more expensive than SP, mainly due to the exchange rate to GBP, but cheaper than GMK. I'll have to wait until they get back to me.
-
Yeah I'd be interested in those low profile keycaps also if the groupbuy does happen. :)
