Man I tried to stay out of it but this is clearly not a classifieds thread and its getting annoying, if you are upset about something PM the mods otherwise I'd suggest you to stop with this non sense please.

I assumed somebody had a horse for sale - this year only.

What a waste. I need a horse. (cheap shipping only)

For us uncultured people what is this new year money you speak of?

you get these red-packets of money from friends / family members..

It's also a competition between wealthy people to see who can give the most...

It's not a "lucrative" thing though, since adults wouldn't give much money to each other, mostly for kids..

For example, if one guy gave another adult $1000, what's the point, he can make his own $1000...

But if he can afford to give that guy's kid $1000 and the rest of the kids (new year gatherings) $1000, then he's the cool rich uncle..  (social status).(http://www.freesmileys.org/emoticons/tuzki-bunnys/tuzki-bunny-emoticon-005.gif)

zomg, what kind of uncles do you have?

Cool uncles give $888, or even $1314, but never $1,000.  So much face you can get from giving numbers with 8's.

tp4, if you get anything from that uncle, watch out if he gives you $167, $199, or $250 this year.  Those are not nice numbers for Chinese people.

Uh that's sorta the social trend for wealthy people I guess.

But traditionally it's just elders giving younger children money.  Or technically the married ones giving un-married ones money.

The traditional way is to gathering all the family member to have some days together after a year of working, normally things get ****ed up a week before the new year's eve 'cause everyone has to do many thing to get the house ready (cleaning up, buying special food, buying flowers,...) and the main holiday lasts for 3 days, the first 3 days of the year

Year of the Horse....hmmm wonder what that could bring ?"

Horse board please!
