Title: MassDrop for Trackballs! Go Vote!
Post by: pmfarr on Sat, 08 February 2014, 20:39:47: Hey guys, new to the forum, love trackballs!

Wanted to let you all know that there's a poll over at MassDrop for Trackballs. Basically MassDrop is a website where people vote on products they would like to buy in bulk, and then MassDrop negotiates a corporate discount on a bulk order. The shipment comes in and MassDrop distributes individual units out to each contributor.

So yeah! If we get enough people interested we can all enjoy a discounted high end trackball! I didn't start this poll but I found it. You can add trackball options to the poll if you like! I added the CST L-Trac and other people added other trackball models.

To be honest I haven't tried them but from what I've read they are very solidly built and function as expected.

It's a wrist rest w/ trackball! I find it extremely cool and am curious why no one has tried to produce this.

Sadly, it is no longer made. :( Other than popping the ball out every couple of month for five seconds to clean the rollers, it has had no maintenance. My favorite trackball (I've had three others -- still have, probably, in a drawer somewhere).

Granted, back in the day, I really loved the trackball they used in the arcade game Millipede. :D

Based on iOne Libra-35. Reviews of other variations of the same basic unit suggest a low-quality trackball that lacks onboard sensitivity adjustment (and needs it badly). Also, look closely at the dimensions-- it doesn't match the width of a TKL, let alone a full-size keyboard.

I like the idea, but not the implementation.

Post by: NamelessPFG on Tue, 18 February 2014, 21:29:29: I was going to vote for the CH DT225...until I saw that it was for the PS/2 version.

That was an instant deal-killer, because the one reason to own a DT225 with other competing models like the L-Trac around is for Control Manager support so that you can boast about having the most programmable trackball in the world and have the software to back it up. Needless to say, the Control Manager only works with their USB peripherals.

But if you can get a USB DT225, that paired with a Fighterstick makes a far better combo than a Mad Catz Panther XL, that's for sure.

I didn't know Sanwa made trackballs (or anything other than arcade joysticks and pushbuttons, really), but those don't look like anything I'd see in an arcade cabinet. Come to think of it, who made the huge 3" trackballs you'd see in those old Missile Command, Millipede, Marble Madness, etc. machines? One of those, flanked by three to five arcade pushbuttons and wrapped up in a nice wood enclosure akin to a real arcade cabinet, would be just the ticket...
