What do you guys think of this ridiculously huge "keyboard":

I guess it's literally a key for every action.

Set up modes/ layers instead if you want to use a lot of keyboard shortcuts. This is total overkill imho. Not efficient at all.
-
so what happens when they add a new function...
does this have a removable top plate, so they can add stuff with a reprint?
no.. nuh uh... this won't work...
Look how deep it is.... lets say you are using many of the further away functions..
You'd have to look down every time, because you'd have to jump-key.. even with a homing bar system, the distance is too far to accurately transition...
the forward depth would also require someone to hover their shoulders... this is a sure fire way to get RSI...

The default shortcuts for photoshop kind of suck, but damn this looks terrible. If you have to hunt around and move your hand a large distance to press the key for the tool you want, you might as well just use the mouse.
Ideally you want something that you *don't have to look at* to use, and can access everything you need with one hand while the other is on the mouse. Something like one of those gamer keypads would be alright. But better would be e.g. half an Ergodox. [Well, Ergodox has a ****ty thumb layout, but the overall idea is there.] Multiple thumb key modifiers + the keys in the main letter area to activate all of the common Photoshop tools sounds great.
(Unfortunately, I don’t know any keyboard firmware which easily allows several dozen key macros, which you might need for this kind of thing.)

i prefer just use mouse :)

so what happens when they add a new function...
Or worse: remove an old one, because they merged it with another.

A standard full-size makes more sense to me. Just learn the built in combination shortcuts.
-
ridiculous............
-
Cant imagine how it can be more effective than a usual keyboard. Looking after the right icon isnt exactly more effective than a shortcut.
-
Seems like ultra low travel switches or even one of those foil keyboards, which would be terrible...
What I think is useful is the colour-coding, that looks like a good idea to me. However, I don't think searching a key on this huge thing is much faster than looking in the menu for the command. A smaller version with just the common keybinds or multiple layers would probably be more useful.
Not a PS user myself though, so I can't really judge this.

I've used PS extensively in school and after memorizing the shortcuts, this board would be a waste of space on the desk imho
-
Yup, It must take up loads of space and you cant use it for normal typing. That means that it woud be even more impractical.
