I still quite like Nokia. If they'd do an Android phone I'd consider it. The Samsung ones look nasty to me, are loaded with bloatware, yet seem to outsell every other phone on the market so there's no accounting for taste.
AGREED.
I'm dismayed at how well Samsung sells. It is such a shame because most people i know use those bloated phones and think Android sucks without realizing that they've been using something that's been heavily skinned, customized and is extremely slow/unresponsive as a result. The first time I used a Samsung android phone I though it was the slowest POS.
The bloat ware and lack of updates (well blame American carriers) is why I only use Nexus phones.
I am really glad we have Google play edition phones, although they are not completely stock devices in the way nexus devices are and don't update as quickly.
I'd use a quality Nokia phone with stock android or at least a Google Play Edition approach.
The bloat ware isn't actually that bad, the reason they sell so well is becasue they are just so complete as devices, they do it all.
The reason they sell well is because of samsung's aggressive marketing and most consumers are not that tech savvy.
I can hardly say that a samsung phone is a complete device, especially if you've used another phone.
They are some of the most unpolished android devices out there.
That's not to say that samsung products are a complete POS but I wish they did a better job.
Especially since Samsung is the primary competition for Apple, I really wish Samsung's products were leaner and smoother.
The bloatware is really bad. You don't have that smooth "buttery" experience on Samsung bloated products.
There is no comparison if you've ever used an iPhone, which is smooth and intuitive (for low tech users) vs a Samsung.
You can even see how much responsive a stock/google play edition device performs vs a Samsung.
Not sure really what planet your from.
I've been an iPhone user for 4yrs now and have an use daily an iPhone 5. iOS is a massive piece of unfinished garbage with more problems than apps.
There (Apple) hardware, while pretty and the best looking by far has poor build quality and I've been though several phones simply getting them replaced becasue of broken/badly designed buttons (and I'm not alone in this).
While I'm not suggesting that the Galaxy line of phones are perfect, becasue if they were I would probably own one. But they are perfectly smooth (the top end versions anyway) and very usable, and while I'm personally not all too familiar with Android the market place has spoken and it rules the roost.
I would agree that really until the S5 there phones have been made from nasty plastics that look and feel like total and utter ****. It's part of the reason I never got an S4.
But thanks to Apple cluster ****ing all there customers with the new port on there phones, which ruins all compatibility with all docks and 3rd party hardware (which was partly why I invested in an iPhone originally anyway) unless you open your anus to Apple and get raped by there horribly over-priced and horrible made cables (of which I'm almost on my 3rd within a year and a half). And the cluster **** that is the new iOS which has made my iPhone 5, slow, prone to crashing, laggy and unresponsive.
can't remember what the hide tags are called on this forum, as its all off topic babble
What planet am I from?
Well it's actually listed under my name.

If you're going to ask what planet I'm from then ... I don't possibly see how you can use a Samsung and say oh the bloatware is absolutely fine. Have you ever used stock android?
I really don't know how you can draw that comparison and then come to the conclusion that bloatware "isn't all that bad".
Samsung products well let me throw HTC in here too are terrible.
They're slow, sluggish, bloated with **** that drain your overhead and battery.
If you're complaining about how bad your iPhone 5 has gotten - I don't think you've used a Samsung extensively enough.
If you think Apple is incomplete and a POS, then I don't see how you can consider Samsung's touchUI + android customization not to be a dumbed down, gimped OS.
These are phones are hardly suitable for use, unless you give them a good flash (or buy the google play edition ... or turn them into one via flashing)
Oh speaking of flashing, did I mention what a piece of **** proprietary firmware and bootloaders are?
Speaking of anus opening, when you buy a Samsung phone. You're going to be stuck on that version of Android that your phone comes with.
You're not going to get timely updates on your phone, if any at all.
I advocate you use nexus products.
