Give him a Playboy or Mayfair and let him dream first :thumb: . That's what I had to get by with at his age.
Later on you pick up the signals girls give out and you eventually learn through trial and error. By all means don't allow him to watch any porn movies waste of time and they never act that way in real life not unless they're certified nymphos.
If you try to help him out in everything he'll never pick up the means nor the effort in teaching himself about women at all and he may resent you later on in life. If you want to be a Dad step back and let him make the mistakes, that way he'll know what he did wrong and avoid any future mishaps, which is the goal of learning when you're young.
-
Just wait it out. He'll start looking at them and talking to them. When I was 8 I was a player lol.
Now, I don't to many of them, high school girls have been with everyone.
-
After reading the op's follow up post I want nothing to do with him. Ciao!
-
Maybe you should just teach him to not give a **** and be happy with who he is, maybe then he'll be more confident about coming out of his shell a little, I don't see how pressuring him to 'pick up' girls is going to help
+1

My son is gifted and shy, somewhat typical Asian boy I guess.
Our family goal is to get him into James Ruse agricultural high when by the time he turn 11, the best selective High in the state of NSW, that school consists entirely of highly intelligent Asians with conservative Asians values, I don't want him to be a Pick Up Artist, that is not my intention, I just want to utilise the techniques in pick up to better socialise with the girls, the real pick up will start at university. I just don't want him to turn out like many of the geeks and nerds boys you typically find in James Ruse.

Your jealousy and wanting to be someone's first and/or only is a foolish child's dream. Think about it: if the high school girls have been with everyone, they can't take that back as they get older. So what changes? Your though processes and acceptance criteria. So why not look at them and join "everyone"? But you'll learn this one day if not now.

Oh no. Another thread with Geekhack giving pickup advice. Might as well lock it now.

8? At that age I was more interested in Ninja Turtles and my SNES :3
-
My 2 cents: Work on his shyness. Rest will follow and it will be beneficial in many aspects of his life anyway.
-
Wish my dad taught me this ****. I'm 20 and I'm still clueless when it comes to women...
All my dad ever taught me is that women are crazy and never get married.
So yes, teach him the ways.

Give your child a pick up artist book if you want him to be an annoying douche bag

lol, true. I don't him to "neg" or insult every girl he encounter and become a jerk to women.
-
he's eight years old.
and that's where I stopped reading. Really, with these threads people?
He's 8. His balls haven't even dropped yet and girls have cooties. What the **** are you trying to do to the poor boy? Let him grow up.

I think I'll say what the rest of us want to say.
Your son's eight. He's supposed to be a shy elementary school kid.
You, on the other hand, need to get your head out of the gutter, act your age and normalize socially.
-
Really, if want a bada$$ son, just instill confidence, self-worth, and pride in his work. Teach him basic social skills. Teach him how to complete projects to their end.
Lots of times, the types of guys that high school girls are attracted to are not standout guys. They might be some troublemaker with fake confidence and daddy issues. Or some brain dead jock. Or some brooding emo kid that they just want to save.
Be a good dad and focus on turning your kid into an exceptional individual. In the long run, everybody is attracted to an accomplished, confident, in-shape, driven individual that creates something of meaning and value in this world.

@ OP - read this:
http://www.reddit.com/r/ForeverAlone/comments/1lurc8/how_many_of_you_were_never_give_the_talk_by_your/cc368kq
It's an overall guideline on how to raise your kid from a father's perspective. The author is a great role model to emulate. He provides reinforceable behaviors that you can use to lead by example and ultimately help your child succeed.

I won't join them, since I'm not that type of teen....

^^ That is the type of stuff I hate.... I won't join them... You can't make me, I would rather spend my time learning about coding and working on school, to get into a good college and start a career...
I was a player in the third grade saying things like, ' oh you're cute.' I don't liker her anymore that kind of stuff...
To the OP
Teach him good manners and to hold doors open for people. It has helped me a lot this year...
He'll find someone, one day.

I swear to god... If that's toward me, I already got a **** load of crap today. I come on GH to wind down, and enjoy this site... So please sir calm your ass down...

I think that the best way to learn how to socialize is to get experience in socializing. Expose him to social situations and to different groups of people, so that he can find other people that he can establish a rapport with. If he is too shy in one group, another group may be better for him. And let him do that by himself.
Let him learn himself how to socialize with girls as friends before teaching him to be a "player".
And do it before he reaches puberty. If you teach him dating tricks, he will not just be shy and horny when he reaches puberty, he will be shy douchebag with serious misconceptions about how to be around people.
-
Damn I wish there was like a thumbs up/down system. ^^^ That post deserves an award lol.
-
Let him speak to girls much older than him, they will teach him anything he needs to learn.
-
If you teach your son how to pick up girls in the same way you would wish your daughter to be picked up (assuming you have one), I don't see anything wrong. It's only when there is a mismatch that problems arise.
Or putting it another way, teaching your son how to trick girls is wrong, but teaching him what women like is not. Men and women like to be cherished, and as long as that is sincere -- as in, he sincerely likes being with the one he is "picking up" -- I think he will be okay.

Oh no. Another thread with Geekhack giving pickup advice. Might as well lock it now.
When in doubt, say "buckling spring." Even if it makes no sense in context, no one will argue with how much fun it is is to type with. "How do I appeal to women?" "Well, I find the IBM Model M appealing. Perhaps a well-timed gift of a classic keyboard will win her heart."

What are you talking about?
Buckling spring always makes sense.

All you could hear right now are crickets, chirping away.......... ::)

Thinking about it...
With 8 I probably still had a NES, because the SNES was released when I was like 10, doh!
C64 -> Amiga500 -> NES / Gameboy -> SNES -> Atari Jaguar -> PC -> PSX + PC -> PS2 + PC -> PS3 + PC

I was about to say "buckling spring."

yeah, they will do right things to his right places

Yep, that's the only way to learn ;D . Mind you the older ones want more action down there than the younger ones, maybe due to their end-of-line production.
-
Please just please keep him away from porn; at his age it can do some real damage.
-
You could tape the whole ordeal and become the star of a sitcom.
-

I watched porn when I was eight, they taught me more about life than both of my parents add together.

exactly, it kind of annoys me when people generalize children as only having one type of personality. Depending on the type of kid, witnessing human sex at an early age either doesn't matter, is horrible or is ok.

I think this whole response here to the op's request of finding out how to deal with girl's at the age of eight, presumes that he indeed is interested in girls, he could also be interested in boys.
Hence the Father has to ask, how do you know your son really is interested in Girls at that age? I suppose like all parents he'll find out later when he catches his boy with someone else in bed other than what he originally expected...... ;) .
The op has to ask the real hard question for himself, what will you do when you find out about his preference, kick him out or embrace his choice?
-
^ that should not be a hard question

You try to insult my family honour? No child of mine is going to grow queer. Keep gay cultures to yourselves. I don't need it on this forum and I certainly don't want to see it in my family or in my country.
