Hey guys, I want to buy my first mechanical keyboard. But I can't decide between the Ducky Shine 3 TKL and Filco Majestouch 2 Ninja TKL. I will buy it with mx reds, because I mainly will use the keyboard for gaming. Are the mx reds a wise choice?

People are going to say its a matter of taste about switch choice for gaming.
But for competitive games and whether you throw yourself into gaming competition, i would call linear switch as most proper switch for gaming, especially on fps
Actually, it wont make you better or raise your skill, its a matter of comfort
any cheap ruber dome keyboard would be effective enough for fps.
tactile switches such as blue or brown are too unpredictable, meaning you must know when key is activated
i came from ut/quake and played it for long time, each move is important, straffing, moving is the key to surprise others good players
with brown keys, i accidentally pressed twice keys and failed my movement: i was an easy target for anyone who has good aim
if you play modern fps, then red/black would be the best choice (if you bottom out alot then linear switch does help you)
if you play all games including mmo, moba, rts, fps, any type of switch
about the choice of keyboard, its a matter of taste as well, i d rather pick Ninja imo, anyway both are great keyboard.

Based on the fact that I've heard some people complain about QC issues with the Filco (i.e. not working out of the box) and that I have a very robust Ducky Shine 3, I'd say the latter. Honestly, even if you don't use them, it does have some really interesting (and fun) lighting modes, as well as key repeat/repeat delay and is constructed with equal quality to the Filco, which is really overpriced for what it offers.

Thanks guys, I could test the browns on the g710+, and it felt really strange, I simply will buy the Shine 3 with mx reds and test it.

If you don't care about stabilizers (Ducky has cherry stabs, Filco/QFR have costar stabs), I'd recommend a Cooler Master Quickfire Rapid (stealth if you want side-printed). You're basically getting a filco for almost half the price. If you need insane backlighting features, though, go for the ducky (I don't use these and find them gimicky, but a lot of people seem to enjoy them). You can also get duckys with stock PBT caps, which is a lot cheaper than buying aftermarket PBTs for another board.

I thought about the QFR with mx red, but unfortunately they are atm out of stock here in Germany. And ISO pbt key caps would cost me 75€...

They're also very thick PBT, so unless you want double shot or something else, there really isn't anything better material-wise. And my god, what is it with people saying "ONLY IF YOU NEED STUPID GIMMICKS HUEHUE"? That's such an illogical approach to take to it. It's honestly a better board than the Filco for less, and it has the options. Lots of people don't even use the backlighting and use it just because they make really good boards.

Ducky Pro and their Yellow series cost about $150 (115€) and come in TKL/full-size with the thick PBT caps. You may or may not like the color, though, and it may be more expensive in Europe. Just a suggestion. :D

never had a ducky, but i heard they have QC issues. on the other hand, i have 4 filcos and 5th ordered and all of them are flawless.
furthermore costar stabilizers are way better than cherry stabilizers.

I did huge amounts of research before purchasing my keyboard and never saw anyone complaining about QC issues with Filco. The only two complaints I consistently saw for Filco boards were the ABS keycaps and the "Filco ping". Also, I don't know where or why anyone is paying $180 for a Filco because Amazon consistently has the MJ2 TKL with reds for $140 and the ninja MJ2 TKL for $150. Unless maybe Amazon isn't an option for you ...
Ive heard that Ducky's are great keyboards and a good value, but from everything I've ever read the consensus opinion seemed to be that the Filcos are built a little better and have a little nicer feel. Tons of people on here have Duckys and love them so clearly they wouldn't be a bad choice, especially if you want backlighting. Personally I chose the Filco because I felt like all the Duckys were just too gaudy and flashy and because I was willing to pay extra to get the absolute best quality keyboard possible without going above $200.

I was blessed to be able to test out a ducky, Noppoo, and Filco side-by-side when I was starting out (yay for computer cities in China). I decided on the Filco because it felt like it was better quality than the other two. I'm not discounting others' experience, just sharing mine. I eventually sold the Filco and got a Poker (and another, and another).

Go with Browns as I'm sure you're going to be doing some typing as well. The tactile bump is barely felt, but it's the best of both worlds in my opinion, good for gaming AND typing.

Especially if they're lubed.
But best if you wear them in first before lubing. Takes away that slightly gritty feeling and allows the springs to soften up a tad so you feel the bump more prominently. Then lube them. Then they're just awesome. At least to my taste.

The filco does have better build quality, if it is worth the 40-50+ dollars more than a board with slightly lower build quality depends on the person buying it. The QFR is usually the board that is most compared to the filco and it is without a doubt lower quality in every way, but people still insist on saying that it is practically the same board.
Amazon is about to restock filco keyboards from keyboardco, so they should be 140 shipped again, which is about 40 dollars less than anywhere else.

I just got the Ducky Shine 3 TKL. The big keys are squishy. The backlight is cool but not "wow" for me. The mx reds are cool, but not for typing at all. And some keys have a pinging noise (G H very loud). I am going to order the Filco TKL with browns now. Happy typing!

It is for typing and gaming. I never used the mx reds, so I wanted to try them out.
