http://www.ebay.com/itm/161227908293
Dirty 1390120 and an XT Model F. Remember, the 1390120 has no LED indicators, has the thicker steel backplate, and this one comes with an SDL to PS/2 cable.
Just use the BIN. Don't place a bid and let this get higher than the BIN price in a bidding war.
Priced just about right for these two, not cheap, but not too high, either.

that is one very, very filthy seller 'refurbished' keyboard.
wonder what it looked like when it wasn't refurbished.

And the 1390120 has a bar-code label.
-
Looks like there's a bid now.
I'm not convinced it was worth $110 shipped. XT's are only $40 right? If barcode 1390120's are really that expensive, maybe I should consider selling mine (http://i.imm.io/11OCn.jpeg).

Isn't there a way to set it to have the BIN stay even if there are bids? I could swear I've swiped stuff, and had stuff swiped by BIN being used after bids in the past.

If the reserve price isn't met.

I think that the definition is "first valid bid" so anything under the reserve is meaningless anyway.
Reserve is the most transcendently stupid thing in all of ebay, and the more I try to understand it, the more meaningless it becomes.

Hahaha glad you got it! You will probably like that 1390120, if you can live without indicator LEDs.

I am sure I will enjoy it. I never have any LED on to start with, so I don't think I will miss them. Its PS2 also, so I don't need another soarers to make it work.

LOL congrats pacifist. Nice gets.

That was a great deal. The 1390120 alone is probably worth that once you clean it. I bolt modded mine, and it's one of my favourite keyboards. I also recommend using unicomps thinner "blanket", as it makes the keyfeel snappy.
It's also a barcode label. One of the later barcodes from that plant, but an early model nontheless. An enviable KB for sure.
gratuitous label shot:

ANd the PC model F KB is very nice. Other than the spacebar (which can be modded) it's a good representation of model Fs.

Reserve is the most transcendently stupid thing in all of ebay, and the more I try to understand it, the more meaningless it becomes.
I think the theory is that some bidders will be enticed by the low price pre-reserve, but then will be willing to pay more if a bidding war starts.
Alternately, the seller knows that the auction might go for less than the reserve price, but wants to reserve the right to decide afterward whether to actually ship the item or not in that case. It basically allows the seller to defer a decision until later, which is in line with human psychology: we’re natural procrastinators.
Or maybe ebay realizes that the feature is completely moronic, but can charge extra fees for it.
The truly broken part is that (a) the reserve price is not public info, and (b) you can bid on an item above the reserve price, but if no one else bids that high it’s still an “auction” meaning that your bid will go in at the “winning” amount and if that’s below the reserve price it won’t actually count for anything, and as far as I can tell the seller won’t even know that someone was willing to pay their reserve price.
-
So what you're saying is that if the hidden max bid is above the reserve price, then the BIN would also disappear at that time as well?
But yeah, the seller can't see max price at all. That could lead to anger from sellers if the max price is awesome but the winning bid is not.
I've actually looked for that option before and never realized that it was anything to do with reserve. I think BIN should stay unless the bidding manages to get higher than it, or at least close. Because having a $1 opening bid removing someone's ability to pay $60 on the spot to end the auction and pay is really stupid to me.

This is one of the few places where I totally agree with ebay.
I was irritated when I first learned about it (as a newbie seller, of course), but easily understood the sense and logic of it.
But, as I have said 100 times before: Never set a starting price below what you would realistically be happy accepting for your item!
You will not see an experienced seller setting starting and BIN prices far apart, and there are many buyers who regularly put in bids at $1 over the starting price as a matter of course, in hopes of being the only bidder.
-
Also, remember that I am always thinking as the seller.
Whenever I say "not" to do something, and you (as buyer) see it happening - there may be an opportunity for you.
