Time for the next meetup :D
The only requests I got were for early March. Sooooooo
1PM Saturday March 29th, 2014 @ Massdrop HQ SF
Massdrop wants numbers so they can order food + beers.
Saturday March 8th, 2014 @ Massdrop HQ SF
(Well tentatively until I get confirmation from Massdrop :p )
Please indicate if you are coming.
And if you have any keyboard requests from my collection. With any luck I'll have some prototypes ready to show off, and if my back is up for it I'll bring my force gauge too
Delayed until another weekend in March, please suggest a good Saturday.
-
Hmm, seems many people are busy.
I'm thinking about moving the meetup to another weekend.
Any preferences?
-
oof, next weekend yah? would have to drive. very ehhhh for me.
-
I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it up. Homework, school, and whatnot. I'll try to figure it out by Wednesday.
-
Any weekend in March is good. :-)
-
i will be in the bay area this weekend after all but will be busy for most of the time i am there. i'm not sure what my schedule will be yet, but i might be free for a some amount of time on sunday, and monday if i am still there.
i will also be in and out of contact, so if a meetup is to happen, we should probably coordinate now. unfortunately, i am going up to attend a wake, so that will be taking priority, but i would like to squeeze some time in with norcal folks as well if i can.
-
Sooooo, my Grand Piano is being delivered on Saturday...I gotta be home all day.
mkawa, if you are around San Jose on the weekend, ping me. We could do beers or something. Getting to SF is a bit of work for me though.
-
IIIIII
wannaaaaa
commmmmmmmmme
-
i will primarily be in the east bay/el cerrito/martinez area. if i leave monday late morning i might be in SJ/south bay about time for lunch. i may stay up slightly longer though to spend time with friends.
-
schedule is completely indeterminate at the moment.
if i stay a bit longer though, into next week, i would love to visit with folks that are working at smaller companies in the area. i am currently looking for work in the bay, and i love visiting with engineers, as everyone knows.

March 29th? Any thoughts on using this date?

Works for me!
-
Sounds like an okay date. How does Massdrop feel about it?
-
I haven't pinged massdrop yet, but they are pretty open on dates.
-
Massdrop says the day works. They just want a headcount for food and beers :P
-
So do we have anything like a head count? I’ll definitely show up, and maybe bring 1-2 others.
-
Kaia and I will be showing up. We'll bring a pair of Keyboard.IO prototypes for folks to play with.
I might even have some of Kailh's new RGB keyswitches to show around.
-

I might actually have to miss out. My brother is in town that weekend and wants to go sailing. Flip me to no for now. :(
-
I can maybe be there! I'll let you guys know ASAP when I can confirm 100%.
-
I didn't realize this was this weekend. I should be able to come, but still debating how I should get there.
-
Awwww I want to visit Massdrop HQ, that sounds like fun. Too bad I leave for vacation Saturday morning.
-
Definitely sailing that afternoon. Sorry I'll miss everyone!
-
I'll be there in spirit :(
I miss you Bay Area kids already <3
-
Confirming that I'm there!
-
Can't drink beer, but I'll most likely be there anyway.
Here are my keyboards: http://remdell.tumblr.com/keyboards
You guys can request a few keyboards for me to bring. If not, I'm just going to bring my Pure. :)

Wish I was going to be able to make it so I could type on your DC2014.

I’m going to bring 2 Apple IIGS keyboards which I put new switches in: one with SMK blue Alps-mount (“monterey blue”) switches, and another with clicky blue Alps. I traded the keycaps on the two, because the double-shot ABS caps, while very nice looking, have slider mounts which are too fat for the SMK switches, which makes them not function quite properly (but they work perfectly well on Alps switches). Also, I’ll bring along a handful of loose complicated Alps switches (and maybe some others) of about 8 different kinds.
remdell, mind brining along that keyboard with the “salmon” alps switches? I’m curious how those differ from various types of orange Alps switches.
-
Alright, I'm officially coming now, no more 75% chance.
I'll bring a couple oddballs I have - the Olympia Carrera, PS/2 P70 keyboard (Platespring) and a 3278 board. If wanted I can also bring the IBM 5140 board (Alps SKCM).
-

If anyone wants to look at one of these, I also have one [though I just desoldered all the switches], and HaaTa also has one. :-)
-
Just to confirm, I am bringing along one more person for sure, and another friend will probably also show up.

Sure thing. However, I'm most likely going to bring the M0116 because the M0115 and EKII are very large keyboards. I'm curious as to how your Apple IIGS boards will feel because you've converted them to clicky keyboards.
I think I might also bring my Datadesk International and PC Partner's boards. I've noticed that SMK switches are very precise and sharp. SMK inverse cross switches are really smooth, and SMK MX-mounted switches are very sharp but only slightly clicky. Unfortunately, my Datadesk does not have a cord. I think it uses RJ11, but I haven't gone looking for one yet.

HaaTa's meetup theme: Clicky Switches
I was thinking of bringing "all" (minus one) of my clicky switch keyboards. Depending on car room, I may not bring Alps type clicky switches.
-
I might be a few minutes late. I have to do a few errands, which will probably go by slowly because of the rain.
-
We may be late or no shows. kaia broke her ankle. :/
-
I'll be a little late, just got on BART.
-
Oh don't worry, I'm going to be late as well. After everyone decided they want coffee we finally got out and we're only in Vallejo now on 80, right near where Smorgy Bobs used to be (no idea what the place is now).
-
Thanks everybody, Today was fantastic!
-
Today was great fun :D
If anyone is in the SJ area, I love to talk keyboards over beer. Or come visit me and my lab :P
The next meetup will probably be sometime mid/end of April, and likely at SJ Techshop (unless another venue is suggested).
I'll start another thread for it, so please suggest your ideal Saturday @ 1 times.
obra, end of May a good time for a meetup at your workspace?
-
I'm pretty sure I could do end of April or end of May
-
I can’t make it to anything between middle of April and middle of May. Happy to talk keyboards with anyone in the bay area in the next 2 weeks, or any time after mid May though.
Also, thanks everyone for showing up! Glad you could stop by, Jesse, and good luck with all the prototyping and logistics and Arduino bugs &c.
