Title: Cherry profile keycaps on a filco mj2
Post by: Girtarded on Tue, 18 February 2014, 23:54:43
I know that cherry profile keys are shorter than the standard keys on an mj2, but I was wondering if I bought a full set of, say, IMSTO thick pbt cherry profile caps they would fit correctly on an mj2.

I use GMK on my filco, and SP on my other one.

Works fine.

With Cherry caps profile, a QFR or a MJ looks 10x better :>

Actually I had a problem with the Imsto Thick PBT cap on my Filco. My big keys ended up being extremely mushy and didn't press all the way down. Does anyone know how to fix this?

You're stabilizers (the little white things) probably aren't in all the way.

The stabilizers are in all the way and I have no O rings. I looked this up and people had similar problems where the bigger keys will grind or something of that nature. They said it's because the IMSTO keys are cherry profile and thick. Some people recommended shaving some parts off so I don't exactly know what to do. At this point, I'm using my Filco spacebar with the rest of the keys IMSTO until I solve this problem.

Hey actually I fixed the issue. So basically, you can get unlucky with bigger warped pbt keycaps which actually changes the feel and the interaction with the stabilizers alot. My spacebar, shift key and enter key were all warped so I used the hair dryer to straighten them out just a tad. It didn't fully solve the problem for the enter key, but solved the spacebar and shift key.
