i just got the realforce 89s 10th keyboard, when playing battlefield and holding down e to run sometimes my guy stops moving, requiring me to repress the key. any ideas?

Aside from actual defective hardware, a stuck key elsewhere on the keyboard may interfere with key repeats. Run Aquakeytest to check for any problems like that. There's a link in my signature to it.

all the keys seem to work...so does that mean there is a problem with the e key itself? i opened a new text document and can hold e for as long as i want with no issue..

i dont know if this matters but the keyboard comes as ps2 connection not usb so i have an adapter for usb as my mb doesnt have a ps2 port

If it works fine in other software then I doubt the problem is the keyboard. If you have it plugged into a USB 3.0 slot, try plugging it into a USB 2.0 slot. There might be some sort of incompatibility there.
Also, have you played Battlefield 4 using a different keyboard?

That board has very light keys. Do you think it may be possible that you are accidentally pressing another key which cancels out the previous one? I don't know what kind of rollover the 89s has over PS/2 converted to USB. It could also not be rollover related, but related to the key assignments in the game (some action which stops you moving).
Try Aquakeytest and see how it behaves when pressing the other keys your fingers rest on while playing.
That's the only thing I can think of off the top of my head. Could be something else entirely, but Aquakeytest is a good tool for checking this kind of thing.

Yeah, I tried I tried pressing sdf and space with aquakeytest the e key remained lit the whole time..also something to note I could not find the single ps2 to USB adapter so I got the one that allows you to plug in a keyboard and mouse so its more of a y cable if that matters.

My other keyboard doesn't have any issues, I tried USB 3.0 and 2.0

What key does your pinkie rest on and what function is that assigned to in the game?
It could also be a bug in BF. BF3 and BF4 do seem to have a lot of issues, although a quick Google search didn't come up with others having the same issue.

My pinky doesn't tend to rest on any key, it hovers. I read on some forums this was a problem in bf4 the beginning of last year..all the other keyboards I have tried did no such thing it must be my adapter or windows 8.1. I can't think of anything else.

Test out that Y-cable with another keyboard + the same mouse. Could be interference between the mouse and keyboard signals or excessive power draw. Also try a regular PS/2 -> USB converter. They're like $2 on eBay.

will do, thanks!
