Hey guys, thought it might be worth posting here...
I went to my local IKEA store in Warrington to pick up a Galant 160cm x 80cm desk, and their stock system says that the entire line has been discontinued. I know this because I wanted the Black-Brown table top but they didn't have any stock laid back, and when they checked the stock of the T-shaped legs and the frame, they were in stock at the store but showing up as 'DISCONTINUED'.
It seems that IKEA are now just selling off their remaining stock. I saw another posting elsewhere that corroborates this (http://www.ikeafans.com/forums/workspaces/67116-galant-desks-being-replaced.html) which says that the line is being replaced in October 2014. I'm guessing this will be for something less sturdy, since IKEA are discontinuing their Expedit range of shelving (which I am an owner of, as a vinyl enthusiast) and replacing it with a less sturdy Kallax line.

Nooooo. I have two Galant desks - white frosted glass tops with angled chrome legs and I love them.
The white backed glass also doubles up as a whiteboard and you can even do soldering on it without worrying about damaging the surface.

Man, I was just thinking of getting one in the future

Good! Those desks suck for keyboards.
It is difficult to adjust the height - you need to do it on all four legs and it is difficult to get them level -
and the beams below the desk are too low - so they will bump into your knees if you use a keyboard that is high (such as the Kinesis Advantage) and sit with correct posture.

Picked up a beast of a Galant with T legs and 4 attachments for £40 off ebay
Really nice desk
When you say 'selling off their remaining stock' is that at a reduced price or are they just not replacing the stock they've got?

If you get the T-Legs, it's a lot easier to adjust. I'm happy with my purchase.

Disappointing. Got a black wood top Galant as my laptop station/electronics desk here. Super sturdy :(

Got my own faux wood galant, and its really nice
but the legs are tricky and the stupid bars hit my legs....

Wow, SO glad I decided to pick mine up last December. :]

Glad I picked up a barely used, like-new Galant from a student moving out for $40 last year :D
I have this model in the black/brown table top color:

Planning on doing some shelving mods to get a nice desk shelf and put my triple monitor set up on top like the pics here:

Very easy to pick one up on the cheap from craigslist. I got a black one in good condition for $50.
