Title: Name of Flush/Countersunk M3 Bolts??

I know that I saw a thread recently that mentioned a special name for M3 bolts on ebay that have a sunken head so they mount flush/countersunk to the surface. I'm making a layered lasercut acrylic case and would rather that the bolts weren't raised.

Can anyone tell me what they're called, or give a link to the thread that I'm looking for?

flat, flush or countersunk are all equivalent terms w/rt machine screws.

That would be Flat Head Counter sunk

and here is a link for phillips, slotted, and Pin-in-Torx (also known as tamper resistant) http://www.mcmaster.com/#machine-screws/=qyydlp  I would reccommend against the slotted just for appearance sake and would go with either the phillips or the allen head.  Although the pin in torx would look nice but chances are you would have to buy a bit/tool just for those.  Which this site sells as well.

Thanks for the replies everyone, those are good, maybe I didn't express what I'm looking for that well, but I remember there was also a thing like a nut end, threaded inside, that you screw the M3 bolt into.

Something like this, although I think they had a wider head?

I was originally thinking about using a threaded hex spacer, but I would only be able to fit a 5mm spacer in there, so I'd need something like a 7mm M3 for the top and a 3mm for the bottom to go into it. I couldn't find any M3 bolts as short as 3mm.

What do you guys use to screw together a layered case?

the ones in your picture is called a sex bolt. It's doable for a ergodox case (barely), as the holes on the case must be enlarged on one side for the barrel to fit in.

I'd countersunk my ergodox case literally a few days ago. Took quite a while to find the bolts and nuts I was looking for, but you could look to accuscrews for options; though keep in mind their minimum order are between 50-100 pieces for each type you order. For what you want to do, I'd recommend looking at

and for the nut

I went with flat heads and nylon locking nuts on the bottom for my ergodox, though I did order some flanged nuts for another project.

I too would recommend flat head with flanged nuts, or somehting like what I do with two flat heads and a standoff in between as, sex-bolts are quite thick and require a very thick bezel specially if you are using acrylic.

Torx > Allen for M3 or smaller.

the ones i have measure about 9mm end to end, so they are really only good with 4 or more layers of 3mm material. I used them to make my takaki acrylic case workable.
