Title: PBT+Backlight= useless?
Post by: C5Allroad on Mon, 10 March 2014, 15:33:35: I've been considering some caps. Either black or white. But are the leds useless with this combo?

Post by: SpAmRaY on Mon, 10 March 2014, 15:34:29: There are some photos of white pbt with led's if you look around. I know they are in the simple questions thread maybe even in the OP. Depending on the led's and the board you should at least get an underglow around the keys.

Post by: Britney Spears on Mon, 10 March 2014, 15:55:19: Imho it depends on the thickness and color of the keycaps. The Ducky Yellow for example has thick PBT keycaps, but the LEDs shine through:

But the thick grey keycaps I'm using on my Ducky Mini which has very bright LEDs will not let any light through and the result is only a rather faint underglow.

Only the Esc and WASD cluster are backlit aside from the mod keys. The light does not shine through and I only get underglow. You can't really even tell from this pic.

not useless, consider the color.

white PBTs work best with leds. If you have other colors, they may be very dim as a result.

yeah, and I think you're stuck with thin PBT. Wonder if anyone has tried using Imsto PBT doubleshots on backlighted keyboards.
