I really, really want one of these:
The spare parts resellers sell them for $110+.
(Bad) example recycledgoods (http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=200255855151)
However, I found this page:
http://www.amitron-int.com/MISC.HTM
where they are sold for $29. They have 3 in stock and a minimum order of $100 so this might just work out if one takes three of these.
Anybody else who wants one?
Oh, and these are for 3290 terminals. There is no converter @ kbdbabel.org yet. Maybe I can work something out with the owner of that site, I haven't tried it so far. A custom controller would be another possibility.

* Last Update 03/14/05.*
Just saw that. I emailed them if it's still in stock.

Are you saying that this keyboard cannot be connected to a PC? If you can find an adopter to connect it to the USB port of a PC, is there a way to program all those extra keys?

I cannot say how the kbdbabel adapter would handle this. If it doesn't it should be possible to work on the code.
If you use a custom controller then programming would be no problem.
The part sellers with outdated or scraped lists usually lead to nothing, but if it does you can PM me because I'd be interested.
Ehm..LOL..

Saw that too afterwards... I'll do my homework next time. :)
Needless to say they didn't answer my mail.

It says "since 1986." That also looks like the approximate timeframe that site was built.
The very, very sad thing is that some of the pages weer updated as recently as 2004.

That picture...
I'm guessing you haven't heard anything from them. Was anyone brave enough to try the phone number [ (818)341-7780 ]?
Argecy (http://argecyco.ipower.com/index.php?pfile=3290) have them for slightly less... TamyaTech (http://www.tamayatech.com/parts.php) list them as, albeit it as "Special Order" if you search for 1387033 in the PN#/Model box, both as refurb and "New Open Box" with manufacturer warranty!
The Argecy page, with its IBM document, shows that this part number was supplied with model 220, which seems to be what is referred to by 3290-2 [ie. type-model 3290-2XX, the second digit specifying the keyboard, the third a mystery to me...]. I have a reference that states "If I remember right, the model 2 can also use a regular "enhanced" PC keyboard. (http://groups.google.co.uk/group/comp.home.automation/browse_thread/thread/2394deac3ec9a470/cba1661a6f9435c1?hl=en&lnk=gst&q=%27If+I+remember+right%2C+the+model+2+can+also+use+a+regular+%22enhanced%22+PC+keyboard%27#cba1661a6f9435c1")". The Corestore picture (http://www.corestore.org/3290-1med.jpg) (from the "emuterm" page (http://www.corestore.org/emuterm.htm)) certainly shows a "Enhanced" type 'board, though it's a 102 terminal 'board (and from the filename it's a Model 1?!...) rather than a 101/102 for a PC/AT.
So, it may well have much in common with other terminal kbds of the time, and be yet another using modified scan code set 3, and so may work with the existing kbdbabel adapter for many Model M terminal keyboards.
This may also be the case for the 122 key P/N 6110344 Model F for the type 5271 "3270 PC" (as owned by Sandy)...

As expected I didn't hear back from them.
I emailed TamyaTech for prices, good find.
But on my vacation two weeks ago I got some distance and am probably going to pass, at least for a 3 digit price.

lowpoly what the hell do you want of these keyboards for? Need a boat or a raft? You might be able to use it as cow-catcher on your car ...
They are huge and outdated. I just don't see the point.
-
That's exactly the appeal.
If not for the clumsy cursor cluster and ISO layout, I could definitely find an appeal in them (particularly the full 122-key versions) I'd love an extra ten function keys for volume and media player controls, without having to settle for a craptacular-feel new "media keyboard".
The shown model just combines that with the current popularity of a no-numeric-keypad design (that, I don't get)
-
I didn't even notice that lol. That is pretty funny now, since it's a "space saver."
-
Not wanting a numeric keypad comes from wanting the mouse to be closer to the main typing area.

I have a feeling he wasn't being literal.

:)
The combination of more function keys and less numpad (for mousing) is perfect for Photoshop or 3D.
-
I wonder how easy it would be to make those extra keys work on a modern computer.
-
Wouldn't be hard if a custom controller were used.
-
With kbdbabel you can mod the assembler code.

Actually, I just bought a boat. Should have taken the 1387033 instead. :D

Beautiful. :) But I don't my computer to be lonely and sad. :(

:D

My apologies.
5. Your computer is delighted when you acquire customisable remapping software, allowing you to identify [the scan codes of] - and put to use - all of the weird keys :)
Happy computing!
