Dark Souls II hit the PS3 yesterday, and is due out on the PC on 4/25. Here's a place for any and all DS II discussion/tips/stories/ranting/curling up into the fetal position and crying/etc.
Right now I'm not too far into the game and I'm having a bit of trouble with the new leveling system, but even with the addition of health restoring items the game certainly doesn't feel easy. At the same time it doesn't feel cheap, as all my deaths so far I can mostly blame myself over. Also PVP is amazingly easy right now due to so many new players, so get your kills in now before the fresh meat becomes seasoned and the baddies stop playing. :))

I was surprised to see that it has a T rating. Does it seem to be less bloody/violent than DS?

Oh, there's plenty of blood in the game so no worries there. I think the rating was ticked down due to the lack of partial-nudity from the first game.
edit: Here, just let the horses mouth do the talking http://www.esrb.org/ratings/synopsis.jsp?Certificate=33288&Title=Dark%20Souls%20II&searchkeyword=dark%20souls%202 (http://www.esrb.org/ratings/synopsis.jsp?Certificate=33288&Title=Dark%20Souls%20II&searchkeyword=dark%20souls%202)

Sounds good. I'm waiting for it to come out for PC.

So apparently your maximum health deteriorates each time you die as opposed to simply going hollow, and you must burn these stick effigies in the bonfire to return your health to it's natural state. I've been running around with 50% health this entire time >:D
This makes the game much more difficult, as the numbers on the plaque in town just passed 6,000,000 deaths and there seems to only be a finite number of effigies in the game. ****, I think I'm gonna have to start over. :'(

I just started playing it tonight, and only really got through the character creation. This weekend will be a marathon however.
-
Just preordered it for PC!! GMG has credit or cash back for it.

I'm going to wait a bit, sometimes they discount preorders themselves. I got Dishonored for $45 a few days before it came out.

Yeah I got it for $38 thanks to GMG also Dark Souls I was on sale for $9.99 and got 20% off that. so I got both games for $46
I have Dark Souls I on PS3.

Great find Dustin. Unfortunately the 20% discount voucher didn't work for this game, does it?

Nope only works on old games :(
-
So you got $12 refunded for it? How does that work?
-
They gave you either a $10 discount, which is minus from the game price before payment or you can choose for $12 in GMG credit. The GMG credit is like cash, in your next purchase from GMG, you can choose to deduct from your GMG account.

Exactly! :) I've been buying all my games there. Love it.

Really got to sit down and play last night, and made some decent progression. Knocked out a handful of bosses with the help of some jolly cooperation. It's quite helpful to summon two white phantoms at once now.
Also I was kinda shocked when HE showed up, but luckily his buddy decided to take a hiatus from this game.
-
Gosh, I'm trying to play DS I yet ...

I read the DLC weapons are garbage.
I bought the PC version the other day. I manage to get all the way to No Man's Wharf in one sitting. So far I'm enjoying every bit :D

For those on PC, what is your soul level and memory? It might be fun to do some coop. I'm SL 117 with 1.7 million SM.

Level: 65 Memory: 218721
Love this game so much! up to 57 Hours. 3 characters. :) Warrior is my main.

Nice, it's a shame that you have to be within a certain range of soul memory in order to play with other people. I now have around 2.5 million on my main character.

Haha, I was doing some PvP earlier and actually ended up with 238k souls..you gain about 10% of what it takes for your opponents to level up.

I don't invade, I use the red soapstone for dueling. People summon me and then we duel.
