Title: Where is the best place for ISO/UK Keycaps?
Post by: mickyman on Tue, 18 March 2014, 09:16:03
I have been to all the different places, but seen no promising place to buy any good quality ISO/UK Cherry caps. I heard from someone the WASD keyboards are not very good quality for the money, and over at QWER keys, they seem to never be in-stock. Anyone have any suggestions?

Have you visited deskthority? There are frequent offers of people selling their boards with original cherry caps, some times the boards are ISO UK. You can get them and harvest the keys for the board you want them for.

I was hoping for first hand sets, but I'll definitely check them out.

I see, well you may take a look at the upcoming GB for a Granite, PBT set with sublimated legends, that Matt is leading. However it is not cherry but DSA profile. But it carries legends for international layouts and a big ISO enter key.

Doesn't Ivan have a couple of GBs that have a lot of international layouts including ISO UK? I can't find a GB specifically but I thought he did...

Those are looking sweet. The DSA caps are even better than the Cherrys'.

You may want to check this GB (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=48798.1000#lastPost), it has a fat enter key for ISO, and I think it carries the UK legends as well. And it is GMK made so it is cherry profile. Probably the closest to your needs.

If thin PBT caps are okay, I would simply order this set (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=KB-104-DK&groupid=702&catid=2705&subcat=2455) of thin PBT keys (ISO UK layout). If have similar set on my Ducky 9087 and I quite like them. Not as nice as thick PBT but readily available for an reasonable price.

This is great, I never knew that Overclockers sold these sorts of things, thanks.

You're welcome. The ISO minority has to stick together.  ;)

I don't know how much overclock.uk charges for shipping to the rest of europe, but the black blank pbt set is about 10-20€ less compared to the nordic shops. And their shipping rates aren't that cheap either. Could be very interesting for the iso users looking for a blank set.

If you want to buy a few ISO doubleshot keycaps, I have them. All from Cherry or Filco keyboards. PM me, and also give a link to the exact keycaps you want.

Or I could sell you an entire nearly new set of Filco keycaps for UK ISO.

Those vintage Cherry keycaps are the best you can get, if you like low profile keycaps. ;D
