so i have an odd search.
for power draw reasons a poker 2 wont work, and anything backlit wont work either.
I'm looking for a 60% keyboard that is NON programmable, basically plug in play, no onboard storage, etc.
anything out there?

Basically, I want a keyboard for my ipad, and currently have a poker2, but its power draw is too much, so I have to use a little trick by daisy chaining it through a usb hub to get it to work, and would much rather have a straight plug-n-play if possilbe.
( A quckfire rapid and xt both work with their Fn layers, so it should be fine )
Any idea where to buy one?

poker x is discontinued but you can look for them on classifieds-one of them just sold today

The classifieds seems to be the best place to get one. You may try ebay also, and DT.

ebay won't have them, but DT may. DT is more focused in europe so plan accordingly

When was that and was it from a major seller with 5+ in stock or some random person selling theirs?

PCB mounted, I do belive you can solder in LEDs
I'm not exactly sure the price, but its not that bad

just crawled ebay, didn't find anything.
But in theory, I should be able to add a plate and a case later on.
if I can get a poky x for under $100 i'll be happy.

I got my Poker from an individual not from a vendor, and it was last year.

I have a poker 2 with greens currently, and since I don't program anything into it, its really tempting to get an X, and basically port my green switches, LED's, plate, case, etc onto the X PCB.

I prefer the arrows option of the Poker X over the one in the Poker II. Of course you can replicate it somehow with the PN layer.

What if you just get some kind of battery pack to mount inside your existing keyboard?

The HHKB Pro 2 has that USB hub which I think may cause issue with power draw.

What I don't get is why you don't want it to be programmable then?
Also why do you want to port your LEDs into a Poker X if they caused the issue before? I think there is also some PCB tinkering involved with getting a Poker X all backlit.

because the onboard memory is the power hog. And I never use the program settings on my current poker anyway.
And as far as wiring in a battery to the case, Basically I would need to wire in and hide a PCB off a usb hub into the case, I've tried it before and coulnd't quite figure out how to wire it in.

Are you sure about that? Should be just some flash memory, does that really draw that much power? Weird.

FWIW, I've used both the Poker X and the Pure on my iPad without issue. Neither of those are programmable.
I have a couple of Pure keyboards without cases if you're just looking for the PCB and switches. PM me if you're interested.

I doubt that. The Pure Pro eg. uses an Atmel serial EEPROM (http://www.atmel.com/products/memories/serial/default.aspx), these take around 1mA max. during normal operation and 3mA max. during write. Hardly a "power hog".

So you think that rather than full Backlighting the flash memory is the cause of the power draw? That is some flawed logic.
