Title: CM Quickfire Stealth - Stabilizers and key cap size
Post by: medvednic on Thu, 20 March 2014, 15:27:50
Hello,
over the last couple of days I've reached a decision to buy a CM Storm Quickfire Stealth (MX Brown), I just have some final questions:
a. what stabilizers are used for the large keys?
b. are all of the keys standard size (for future replacement)?
to be honest I thought first about getting a CM Storm Quickfire TK because of the numpad implementation but I changed my mind due to the non standard keycaps on one of the raws + I'm not sure about how I feel about the font.

Not sure about the keys - I'm pretty certain that it uses costar stabilizers though

100% sure they're Costar stabs, and 95% sure the keys are all standard layout.

I recently picked up a standard set of white keycaps for a CM stealth and everything fit fine.  The stabs as discussed above are costar.

Quickfire TK stealth doesn't have standard size keycaps, and has cherry stabs. it has 1.5-1-1.25 and 1.25-1-1-1.5 on the bottom row and has a unique sized spacebar.

Thanks...
last question - is it worth paying for SquareTrade 2-Year PC Peripherals Protection Plan that is offered by Amazon, or does CM's warranty is good enough?
btw I don't live in the US.

Does SquareTrade warranty international items?

IDK, it is said something about "Worldwide Coverage", but now I read the description and it says:
"If you need a repair while abroad, send us a valid repair receipt for your item and we will reimburse you within five business days."
so probably it is for US purchases only...

these keyboards dont usually break, even if it does most of the time you can easily repair it.

plus I think I voided the warranty on all my boards by opening them up to lube. >_>

For my knowledge, does the CM warranty works for international purchases? if I will buy the product from Amazon for example?

That might be a question for CM directly, unless Carter or Rajiv is lurking around here ...

I have QFR and QFS.  Both are fantastic boards, haven't missed a beat.  The layout is totally standard.  And definitely Costar stabilisers.
