Hi all,
I was hoping someone could help me troubleshoot my Unicomp Model M?
These keys keep failing, all at once:

Usually removing the keys, a good clean, reassembly and a firm shake fixes it temporarily. Currently not so much.
Contacting Unicomp is not much help, they require shipping costs there and back greater than the keyboard's replacement cost.

Sorry to read shipping costs are killing you. Their refurbishing service itself is really inexpensive.

It looks like you have a few "lines" out in your membrane. Rows specifically. I think three of them are nonfuncitoning based on the image, but I'll have to check my membrane photos to be sure.
You may be able to solve this by cleaning the KB well. What I mean is to unscrew it with a 5.5mm nutdriver and unplug the membranes from the controller and clean the edges (carefully and NOT using acetone (http://deskthority.net/keyboards-f2/i-made-a-mistake-restoring-a-model-m-t7566.html)) also shake loose any dirt.
The worst case scenario is to replace the membrane with a working one: Unicomp charges $10 I believe for membranes. and you will have to bolt-mod it, which costs about $10 in bolts.
edit: well my membranes show a different layout, but I don't have a unicomp apart to test against. I think it's been changed since the 3 Ms I have apart here were made.
