I wish that these were still selling in the $20-30 shipped range. I would love to have 1 or 2 to strip for parts in hopes of the XTant project actually becoming real.

Not when people keep bidding them up to high prices.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/271401786190 ($90.00 shipped)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/191075575287 ($96.04 shipped)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/301091449957 ($106.45 shipped)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/261358604041 ($111.75 shipped and such a good price that TWO SOLD!)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/121299842512 ($119.99 shipped)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/301129279840 ($145.00 shipped in bad shape, very dirty with marker.)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/321316567623 ($165.94 shipped)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/221363211371 ($139.95 AUD+ shipping)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/271418546088 ($61.26 shipped BIN what a bargain!)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/271417403734 ($59.50 shipped again with the bargains!)

It seems only rarely that an XT model F sells for under $60, and even rarer that it's in the $30 range. If you look through ebay's completed item search, you'll see the above is the rule, not the exception.

How much did you pay for it?

Until 2 years ago, you could hardly give an XT away for shipping cost.

I have bought and sold a few when they were cheap. Like many people, I bought dirt-cheap XTs to see what the Model F mystique was all about, a Hagstrom converter (at 3x what I paid for the XT itself), later my Soarer's outboard converter, and concluded "Wow, what a great feel, what can I do to find something that I could actually use in real life?"

The XTant project really intrigues me, and I think that it could really happen if it could be cobbled together with parts stripped from original Model F keyboards. This would be strictly an enthusiast mod, with dozens (or possibly a very very few hundreds) of users, at best, but man-o-man what a great idea!

However, if F XT prices climb to the point that they are too valuable to strip for parts, the concept will probably languish.

I saw your post and my jaw dropped.

I had been posting a number of these in the past few months, before my Chinese New Year vow that I won’t post auctions anymore to avoid driving up prices. And now prices have skyrocketed.

I was encouraging people to buy F XTs for 50-60 shipped to introduce them to the Model F. But now this is ridiculous. This is not worth the money.

I think that the layout is bad, yet not bad enough not to be usable. At home, I type very few and I game more and for gaming, it's doing a good job. Even the stiff spacebar ain't that bad. I will probably mod the spacebar one day when I restore the keyboard in full, but it's still winter here so it will wait!

Bought one of the three XTs today. Thanks, Pacifist! Now I have to get in line with fohat.digs for the XTant project.

Someone has listed another PC/XT keyboard:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/371027920510

However, the seller seems to think it is a PC/AT keyboard.

There has been 5-6 XT at this price or more for quite a while. They just don't sell.

Last summer I had 2 clean, nice, tested XTs that took a couple of weeks to sell at the $30-35 price point + shipping (one was local pick-up).

That seems about right, particularly if an AT can be had at 3x-4x that amount.
