Title: Thick PBT keycaps nordic layout?
Post by: Slugg on Mon, 24 March 2014, 11:31:21
In short: Need PBT keycaps (thick prefered) for my Filco majestouch 2 ninja NORDIC(if there's legends) otherwise UK will be fine if they are blank.

Is there any thick PBT keycaps with the nordic/UK ISO? And if there is, where can i get a set?
I would really prefer the thick PBT keycaps, but if theres any regular PBT keycaps that uses the nordic layout please tell me :)
I know that ducky has made a set with the legends engraved in the keys which i would prefer. I would rather have blank keys than keys with laser etched. I dont want it to wear over time.
Right now im using the Filco majestouch 2 ninja TKL which i really love with all my heart, but the keys are already getting oily and uncomfortable. And i found out later that the keys were ABS, which is pretty much the only downside to this keyboard.

Thank you,
Slugg

Ducky makes thick ISO sets in nordic layout, only way to get the sets separately that I'm aware of is from Teraset, although I've heard that shipping is fairly expensive.

Yea i contacted them, but they have none available. Unless I buy a completely new keyboard.

Teraset will get a lot of new sets in the near future. The new sets were supposed to come out in Feb, but got delayed... No official date has been announced yet. Check out QWERkeys.co.uk, I know they had some UK/Nordic thick PBT's a little while back.

Thank you very much for your answer, checked the QWERkeys website, and it doesn't seem that they have any nordic layout.
Anyone else know where i might be able to get a set of PBT?

Ivan had a version in his previous PBT Dyesub (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=43328.0) interest check but they didn't meet MOQ.
You could ask him to consider it in his new round (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=54708.0)

You could try searching for some older Cherry G80 or G81 models like G80-3000L**DK or L*M but they are not easy to come by... you could get lucky though. Norwegian N/NO or Swedish O/SF models as well if you don't mind those... but they are also fairly rare to come across. You might have better luck finding one of the Cherry TA typewriters and stealing the keys from it, but you will still need to get some other Cherry keys from a G80/G81 to finish it out as not all the keys will fit for a modern computer keyboard.

I second this option. This set will have an ISO enter and the following international sets that will cover the nordic layout pretty well.

I have bought caps at Teraset. We decided to go for a cheaper shipping alternative, it being only caps. Shipping cost around 20 euro, which isn´t bad considering it is within Scandinavia. They are getting some sweet thick pbt´s incoming soon I think.
