Title: Recommend me an office chair. Budget $200
Post by: Novus on Mon, 24 March 2014, 21:00:53
Hi guys,

My turn to start one of these.
Looking for a new office chair to replace my current chair.
I'm 6'1 and looking for something comfortable.
Lumbar support would be a plus but it's not completely necessary.

Budget is around 200 dollars.

I'm deciding between either these
1) http://www.amazon.com/LexMod-Attainment-Office-Chair-Leatherette/dp/B00BO53F4I/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1395712562&sr=8-3&keywords=lexmod
2) http://www.amazon.com/LexMod-Office-Chair-Black-Leatherette/dp/B004P3WFME/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1395712652&sr=1-1
These two chairs have lift-able arms.

3) Ikea Markus
http://lifehacker.com/5941523/five-best-office-chairs
Highly rated chair but the arms are fixed in place and not adjustable.

Is the Ikea Markus the office chair to go for around this budget?

Let me know what you know think between these 3 choices.
Assuming 1 and 2 aren't relatively obscure.
Feel free to recommend another chair I might like too!

Course I'm mad.
I'm asking about 3 specific chairs and you post a thread that I've already posted in.
Oh, did I mention I'm sitting uncomfortably in my chair too?

I dunno, those first two chairs have "leatherette" seats.  Leatherette is plastic.  Which means your arse will sweat after a few hours in that chair.

Maybe check out this one with fabric seat?

http://www.amazon.com/LexMod-Office-Chair-Black-Fabric/dp/B004MTO2JA/ref=pd_sim_hg_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=1F3Z44PS5XKRZ0HTVPWT

It will wear out faster, but it will be cooler.  Also, fabric is less stain resistant.  So factor that into your decision calculus if you eat at your desk.

I'll definitely check that out along with the Markus when I go to Ikea over the weekend.
So I can establish a baseline, what did you have before/what have you compared the Volmar against?

Good advice! I will keep that in mind.
I do hate having a sweaty ass when I'm sitting forever.
I had a fabric chair in 06ish and it was really hard to clean, even with a vacuum cleaner.

A very cheap IKEA MOSES. This chair is over 4 times the price but way more comfortable and also since I didnt get the arm rest attachments it fits under my desk all the way finally. Also its nice not having the fake leather anymore. Also this has a bunch of adjustments you can do to all of the parts. The back can go back and forth, up and down. Also the back can lock in place or tilt, you can adjust the strength of how hard you have to lean back to tilt it. The seat can go up and down of course. Its really nice.

It's not squeaky or anything like that either right? I'm glad I'm not the only one annoyed at arm rests when you can't fit the chair fully under the desk.

The Ikea Markus might be your best choice for under $200.

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00103102/

Here is some guy who recommends the Markus as best option for an under $200 chair.

Please note:  you have to scroll down to find the under $200 section.  heh.  (It's easy to find a comfy chair for $1,200.)

Its not squeaky at all, I love how there are no armrests. I couldnt have armrests on this chair buy. It was between a few cheap ass chairs or this almost $200 chair, I said screw it and went with this one. They have it at IKEA of course to sit in. I suggest you sit in it and try the options out. Pretty nice.
