lol is this from a GHer?
-
Probably. Knows enough to swap to Dolch keycaps.
-
Why would you swap the caps on a G80-5000...

Why would you swap the caps on a G80-5000...
Step 1: keep the original keycaps (for whatever reason)
Step 2: sell the ones you don't care for and make a lot of money on selling a G80-5000

But the profiles on home, end, etc. are going to be all goofed. The set on the G80-5000 really is the only set that properly fits the G80-5000.

Because Portuguese keycaps are not very popular in the US maybe ? ;)
-
Another possibility is that they show signs of wear (some shine) and would not look as profitable.
-
Nice. Was there a BIN on this before someone placed a bid?

I don't know. When I found it, it already had a bid

and the \| key next to the iso enter is all wonked too in profile
and the spacebar...ehhh haha
not to mention, this person has mixed an OG dolch set and a GMK set..

Not to mention the lasered 1x windows and menu keys on the left appear to be from a G80-1800 or 11800 or similar.
-
Yeah, I mentioned that because the caps on the G80-5000 have some special profiles esp for the nav cluster. Putting other caps on it is... questionable to me, as well as mixing and matching like seen.
-
possibly the originals were so shiny that everyone would be able to tell that this was an ancient keyboard.

The doubleshots on mine are pretty shiny. But, I wouldn't swap them out because I'd want to keep it original for sale, at least. For use I may or may not swap them, depending on how much I care.

I saw on OTD, a post from a long time ago had a 'black squid' where the person put WoB caps, dyed the spacebar and case, and had a black 5000
This is just kinda dumb because it's dolch, with the beige spacebar and case..and not to mention the Portuguese layout doesn't have the caps to match it..just ansi GMK dolch caps + the bare iso caps needed.

The spacebar wasn't dyed on that one iirc, but everything else was black though. Still was a very cool board.

Very cool. I wonder how much it would be at the end.
-
This ended up going for $340. If anyone here got it and wants to offload the nav cluster (Looking mainly for the low profile home key) please let me know.
