Ducky Shine 3
Quickfire XT

I don't mean to sound rude but there are at least 3 or 4 threads asking the same exact question that have been posted within the last few weeks. I suggest reading through some of those. :thumb:

Filco MJ2? That's my jam. I use one daily at work and I love it. I'm a Filco Fanboy. It's got good build quality and a lot of people end up buying one anyways.
Quickfire XT? If this is your first board, I think this is what you should go for. A good value for what you get.
Ducky Shine 3? The Ducky shine boards are my go-to recommendation for backlit boards.
Don't think that you can't game on the Filco. I did for a long time. I think it's worth the extra money to get a Filco. In the normal progression of testing I've seen, people will get multiple keyboards with a Filco on the way. You could just get the Filco and start from a nice starting block.

Well idk if i have read them all but the answers seem kinda vague, maybe you have a better understanding and can fill me in?

Ty BadAss you sexy aesthetic god.

It's really a matter of preference. I really enjoying playing games on my Buckling Spring keyboard - it feels like you hammering enemy away with machinegun - and SOUNDS like this.
Oh, and about those boards - I tried Filco and it's really, really good. But, as you've been told, quickfire ain't bad too - especially for the first board. Better than, say, Razer keyboard.

Ha! Pretty much anything is better than a Razer board! :P

True story :) I have one - I probably won't be using it again. Now when I see the light of BS truth :)
And to TS - seriously, get yourself an IBM Model M on new Unicomp. With Model M you can bang cheating gamer on the head, wash out the blood and then write about it in blog :)

I concur! Filco was my first board and I still use it.

f you go for the filco I suggest you should try to get one in the ~$140 range. They can be found on amazon for the price, with free shipping.
The used price seems to be around $100 shipped though.

I would recommend your choices in this order:
First Choice: Filco MJ2
Second Choice: Quickfire XT
Do not choose: Ducky Shine 3

First time I've seen someone advise AGAINST a Ducky.
I'd put the Ducky over the QF XT any day... IMHO, of course...

I'd go for the Filco if I wanted a keyboard for gaming purposes. For me, backlighting is merely distracting while gaming, unless it's red backlighting or something. Filco > Ducky > CM. I have both a Filco MJ2 and a Shine 3, btw. Also had a QFR which is almost the same as the XT. I'd also recommend going smaller than full-size for gaming... it's just so much more comfortable.

I know, the build quality of my 9008g2 is excellent

I don't know about backlighting in general, but the shine does kind of go overboard with some of those crazy lighting options

I actually only use one LED mode and that is the reactive mode. When you press a key, it lightens up for a select amount of time. Really cool. :P

i have a QF Pro with red switches and i like it a lot. i bought a razer blackwidow and hated the blue switches, as well as the 0 on numpad not working out of the box. the QF is a great keyboard for a new user as it is simple and not too expensive. get the quickfire and be prepared to want to design your own keyboard next ;D
