Just wondering can all PS2 keyboard be converted to USB ?, do I need a special adapter or can I just get one of them cheap ones on Ebay.
-
I'm sure somebody could shed further light on this, but basically the cheap little eBay adapters don't actively convert the signal. You need something that does.
-
Most of the time you should be buying a converter and not just an adapter.
-
so what's the point of the ones on eBay then ??
-
just buy this
the ps2 to usb BLUE CUBE (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BSJFJS/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B000BSJFJS&linkCode=as2&tag=420usa-20)

I would if they would ship to Australia....... NEXT

The blue cube is good but it doesn't work with every keyboard. mkawa has another high quality adapter available, good to have as an alternative. I got one. PM him.

I bought some from GH - I seem to recall that mkawa was involved, although I think all of that batch were sold.
So far they have worked well, even to get an old AT keyboard working on my Mac (via an At to PS/2 adaptor, then one of the PSD/2 to USB adaptors).

I think I mailed it to you. Anyway, it's almost certainly the ID innovations multimode USB adapter. It supports 6KRO and is generally awesome.
However, there are reports that some PS/2 DIY OTD keyboards will not work with it.

techkeys will stock mkawa's converters soon

I think you did!
ID innovations sounds familiar - a brief search did not turn up anything here though.

Pi Engineering makes an active PS/2 to USB active converter. Have not found any limitations. New they are about $55. I have one or two for sale $25 plus shipping if you need. They will take 2 PS/2 devices and actively convert to one USB. They also allow a couple programmable keys.
