Title: K.A.S. -- I've got it..do you?
Post by: esko997 on Sat, 29 March 2014, 22:33:45
Hey all,

Can anyone else relate to having Keyboard Aquisition Syndrome? Ever since I got my first mechanical I've developed almost like an obsession., spending lots of time looking at keyboards I want, different switches, etc. I think I all started when I first starting seeing pictures of the original Lisp Space Cadet board. I've now got 4 boards at home that are all used for various things, and I expect more to come soon. Can anyone relate?  :p

Also, anyone know of keycaps the immitate the space cadet board?

I definitely have K.A.S. The space cadet keycaps you're talking about are from the 'Round 4' group buy that was run on deskthority.net by 7bit.

I always say "do I really need this keyboard?", but in the end I always convince myself I do.

It's a hard habit to break!

At least you rationalize it. I can't even convince myself I need it and still buy anyway.

I can totaly relate to this.

I think I caught this a little before I bough my NIB Model M. I would watch a lot of vids about model M's, go to a lot of websites to find good deals, etc. I already had a mechanical keyboard at the time, but the Model M really started it all. After that, I decided I needed a good keyboard for my work at the lab, some others for my servers, one for travelling,...

And now I don't even bother with reasons or excuses, well... It's for keyboard science !  :D

We all got it. But you coined a nice name for it :)

First i got BlackWidow with MX blues (I know, I know, Razer...) Then friend give me a link for an article about mechanical keyboards in general and I remember about that fantastic feeling I had with old Model M. Then I found this forum. Then I got Unicomp board. Now I have two old mechanic boards in my closet (when I will be a bit less lazy/busy, I'll get to restoration) - and I want more :)

Yes! This exactly! For the progression of keyboard science I need more!

Been there, done that. There's a simple solution though—get used to an ergodox or something like that. A random mechanical keyboard for more than €15? I don't care, I wouldn't type on it anyway, because of comfort. Okay, I'm lying; I'm bidding on a vintage board with Acer switches.
