So, I got my QWERKey today and I removed ESC keycap, put keycap from QWERKey, and after like 10 minutes keyboard stopped working... :O
Not sure that this is somehow related to QWERKey or what but it's pretty funny how this happened after that... :P
Tried on 4 PCs and on iPad Mini too and it's the same...
Any idea what might have happened when I was pulling a keycap? :/
Also, anyone knows how to get to their support? Any e-mail or something, or only contacting Vortex through FaceBook? :O
Tnx!
-
i'd be really surprised if it even had anything to do with the swap of that keycap.. i can only think you might've damaged the pcb somehow or maybe (partly) disconnected the wiring of the usb port at the back (since it's close to the esc key).
i am of little help; sorry. just consider this post a bump :j
-
I have a keycap puller... And I've done this several times on some other keyboards and on this one without any problems...
I really don't know how that could've damaged my keyboard... Weird...
-
Tried another USB cable?
-
Yup I did... :/
-
Damn. I had a USB cable that went bad, and I had the same symptoms as you; blinking caps lock and KB not working. :< Sorry I can't be of more help.
-
Vortex's customer support is really really bad, only messages through FaceBook to get this reply:
"All the key can not work or only capslock?"
not sure what to do now...
Any ideas?
Thanks! :/
-
And as you might guess, no reply from Vortex, none.
And here is the video, share it everywhere for people to see, and how bad Vortex's customer support is, sadly.
I'm really disappointed by their N/A-customer-support, tho I really enjoy their keyboards and I do hope so that they'll improve their customer support...

this is probably useless but you might want to try to set the DIP switches back to default (if you have changed any). in particular the first switch changes left fn with caps lock, but something tells me this has nothing to do with this issue.
my pure pro blinks once on connection. i wonder if it just tries to load saved memory at that point(?) maybe there's something broken in the firmware/memory, or whatever. maybe there could be a way to upload default settings from your pc somehow?
(sorry, i'm a total newb.)

Thanks for trying to help :) I've tried changing all DIP switches, and all combinations and still the same issue :/
My Pure Pro also blinked on connection, depending if LEDs were previously turned on :)
Ye, I don't think so if something might be software related in keyboard, tho, not sure :)
Thanks! Be sure to share the video so more people get to know how Vortex's customer support does nothing :P

Maybe a a problem w/ the USB connector on the board ? IIRC there are six screws partially hidden under the caps, if you take them out you can pull the board out of the case and inspect the connector.

Though about the same thing. Could you take some photos of the connector and the rest of the pcb?

I had this problem
Board wasn't getting enough power from the USB port. Do you have a USB headset/mouse with LEDs in it?
-
You should try plugging directly into the motherboard instead of using the front panel on your case.

this sounds reasonable.
i would suggest turning off all 'power saving' options for (all) usb hubs. having them enabled can cause issues with devices connected to usb ports. i've had unresponsive mice which were 'cured' after disabling the power saving options for usb root hubs, so i'd say it's worth a try.

I get the idea but I don't think it is the cause when he tried 4 different PCs.

sigh :D
sorry

Guys, thnx for trying to help, tho, for now, I'm not willing to open the keyboard till I don't get some reply, good reply from Vortex what to do with my keyboard, no matter what I have to wait, as this keyboard has at least 10 months of warranty.
And yes, as you might read in my first comment, or some other, I've tried different PCs, and I tried plugging it in directly to MBO and so on... No success... :/
So right now, share the video and let people know about Vortex's N/A customer support, and also complain on their facebook >:D
I'll let you know in my video and here on forum when I get some reply from them, if any...

Hi all!
After lots and lots of messages I sent to Vortex, finally I got a reply from them through e-mail.
And yes, it solved my problem!
It was the firmware problem, they sent me a software for flashing a firmware to the keyboard, and after I flashed it works fine, and it even saved my programmed keys (switched LCTRL with LSHIFT).
And if someone gets this problem in future, here are the files for you to download: https://mega.co.nz/#!gQ5wHayA!_mMOhKC8oSj9ooN0F6FOSIutbE3Ld27dRf6XLKYclxM
Many thanks to everyone that tried to help with this problem, and still, many thanks to Vortex, tho I'd like a better way of contacting their customer support, then through FaceBook :P
And also, this is their e-mail: vortex.jc [at] gmail [dot] com
After I got this files, I'm wondering is there a way to make your custom firmware .bin to actually arrange the layout of the keyboard as you want and flash it like that. As for example I'd like that my LSHIFT and LCTRL are switched in default, without needing to turn ON FN, any way of doing this?
-

man, do i feel smart ;p
anyway; glad your board is fixed. i suppose you judged vortex a bit too early ;p
-
Glad it fixed! Thanks for sharing the files!

But how the hell it became damaged in the first place? Strange... You've only replaced keycap...

xD indeed
Yes, kinda I did, but with their no-reply and such replies anyone would judge them like that tho :P
And I'm still staying at my opinion that they should make their customer support better, alot better :)

Hm, I'm thinking that somehow I shortened the keyboard with my metal keycap puller, or I might've pressed something, I don't know, I'm waiting for Vortex's reply why and when this happens...

Yeah, you could shortened something or pressed. I know there were some cases like this with Poker II http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=51978.0
Blinking CapsLock probably means it's in flashing mode.

Vortex should make a post about KBT Pure Pro like they did for Poker II here: http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=50245 (which I found now through your link)...

Or single post for all keyboards. Sticked. There are a lot of users of their production.
