Title: Unicomp Endurapro Mouse Button
Post by: ime1729 on Tue, 01 April 2014, 14:07:58
Hi guys --

I've worn out a sizeable dent in my endurapro's left mouse click button and have recently placed a piece of duct tape on top to guard against even more erosion. Is this expected?

Also, I haven't had a cover on the stick for quite some time now. Will my finger also wear down the joystick too?

You can get replacement parts from Unicomp.

It seems the endurapro is a very, very inferior version of the IBM original. I once had an endurapro pass through my hands, and I was amazed at how clearly badly worn the keyboard was. I was wondering whether the keyboard was really made of pbt, having never seen a model M 3 or 4 times the age of this keyboard in such poor condition before.

I think the other problem is that it's a single point of wear that is used highly, such as the edges of the ESC key of VIM users or the edges of Control/Alt of EMACS users. Personally I just noticed that my Control key is significantly smoother than any of my other keys due to the high wear situation posted.

(Also the mouse is used significantly more now than before because of the shift in paradigm... you have to consider wear patterns too)
