Title: What bottom row looks best?
Post by: danielucf on Thu, 03 April 2014, 16:01:08
I'm trying to make the best out of a bad situation where my custom LZ-CE plate wasn't cut quite the way I expected.

1x 1.5x 1xblank 8x 1x blank 1.5x 1x

1x 1.5x 10x 1.5x 1x

1.25x, 1.25x, weird blank, 8x, weird blank, 1.25x, 1.25x

1.25x 1.25x 10x 1.25x 1.25x

I think I'm leaning towards the two that start at 1x, 1.5x because they both look pretty different compared to anything else I've seen and one reminds me of 84 key layout bottom row.

PS: Does anyone have a link to directions on building a 38GT from scratch? The PCB I got doesn't have the controller PCB soldered on.

1x 1.5x 10x 1.5x 1x

This looks best to me. But will you be able to use stab for that 10x spacebar?

It already has plate mount stabilizers on it.

I think I like the second option in the quote better but either option with the 10x spacebar is nice.

Another vote for
1x 1.5x 10x 1.5x 1x

Hmmmm, I need to make a board with a 10x spacebar.

I think either the first or second one is what looks best. If it was me, I would probably do the first one.

Another lz product gone bad?

Another lz product gone bad?

Probably bad English to Korean translation. I asked for a plate that I could use with 8x and 10x spacebars since they have the same stabilizer spacing (got that). I also asked for universal bottom row (sort of got it) but it wasn't cut far enough towards the center that I could do 1x 1.5x 1x 8x 1x 1.5x 1x or any mixture of that. I was lucky he even agreed to cut a custom plate for me, and I don't think black anodized was offered for the LZ-CE plates but I could be remembering that wrong.

I like the 1.25 1.25 10 1.25 1.25 best. The spacebar is so long the 1 1.5 doesn't have the same charm as the HHKB and the older fullsize boards with a reduced / non-flush bottom row.

I like the look of "1.25×, 1.25×, weird blank, 8×, weird blank, 1.25×, 1.25×" best, but I think you should have gaps only if you can get a case that fills the gaps.

I like first option. 10x space looks... weird.

Second one looks the best but it is true that 10x space is so long. I rather have that than gaps in between.
