A fellow GH member shipped me a keyboard today via USPS Priority. He is in Indiana, I am in Arizona. According to tracking, the service is Priority 1-day, and the package is scheduled for delivery overnight.
I will be... extremely impressed... if the package actually comes overnight. This is the first time I've ever seen a Priority package estimated for 1-day delivery; apparently it's a new thing.
Anyone else gotten a package in 1 day flat by Priority?

I've gotten 2 day from singapore, and that seriously surprised me, so I would also be very impressed if it made it in 1 day.

I've gotten a few keyboards in just under 24 hours shipped FedEx from mechanicalkeyboards.com but they are only 3 hours south.

Newegg has a warehouse 20 minutes away by train and it takes a week for things :|

Fast shipping in general is great. I spend a lot of time in DC, and for items in the MD Amazon warehouse, you can get same-day courier service if you order before about 11am.
But for as long as I can remember, Priority has been 2-3 days. Overnight service for a package traveling IN->AZ would be absolutely amazing.

I ship stuff with USPS First Class all the time and it gets across the US in 2 days most of the time. I have no doubt that they can easily do 1 day shipping.

What really gets me though is those packages that take a whole week to travel from one end of a state to the other end....USPS can be super awesome sometimes and super dumb other times :p

I still fail to understand how Hasu can ship me something from japan for under $2, but anything domestic in the states costs atleast 5 (and usually closer to 20). I mean once it flies internationally it still has to go through the US system, so there is no way it should be cheaper.
The postal system is a mystery to me.

Yeah USPS upgraded their priority shipping a while back. Depending on location the ship time changes and so can the price. But that's a pretty far trip for one day. Would be impressive indeed.

Yeah sorry thats what I was referring to flat rate. Depending on location lately I have been seeing "one day" or "two day". I'm sorry I was wrong about the price on a flat rate. The one I recently shipped was in my own box. Here is a map for shipping times. They have gotten pretty good.

The reason you get 2 days is because of the timezone change. The total transit time was probably 3 or 4 days.

I think he's saying it actually came in 48 hours.

The ****.
How is that even possible?
It takes 2 days to ship something from Norcal to Socal using priority, well it's the same speed with first class packages too.

Not sure if this qualifies since I live nearby, but I placed an order at nuts.com at 9 PM and my order was sitting on my doorstep in the morning. Another order I placed with them I received like 2 hours later.

It ended up taking 2 days after all... :p Overnight for priority price was too good to be true.

USPS is almost constantly a day behind on their delivery dates, fyi.

This is my experience as well. Or 2 days. Or 3.
NYC post offices are terrible...

So excluding accidents (like train derailments - yes I know this isn't UPS), bad weather, special circumstances, and those we missed you salmon pink notices.
Have you guys ever had priority mail (2-3 days) take longer than that? Also be sure to exclude handling time and days where you missed the drop-off deadline (if you drop it into the APC after the PO closes)
The only incident I've had with the USPS is I had a refused package bouncing back and forth for about a month between Norcal and Socal due to some automated sorting error.
Some retail postal workers also refuse to scan packages when you drop them off - supposedly they changed that recently this year.
Another hilarious thing is I often hear the retail clerks say to people ,who wait in line to drop things off, oh you could've just dropped the package off at that counter and I'm like rollseye*.
Thank god for the APC latch.
Anyways, if only we had massive Fedex discounts :/
Is it just me or do things with prepaid barcodes (like the things you print from stamps.com, paypal shipping, usps website etc) ship faster?
First class and priority prepaid mail seems to work well for me, without a hitch.
Whenever I've paid for things at the retail counter, I feel like shipping is much, much slower.

Only issues I've had are the post office closing at 1 and not getting home until 5-6 or not being open Saturday. Other than that I've never had a package take more than 3 days to get to me.
